Oracle BI Publisher Desktop Utility Oracle BI publisher Desktop (Utility) also known as Template Builder. BI Publisher report templates can be designed using the Microsoft Word, Templates created using these tools contain embedded fields with properties that determine how the XML data will be merged into the template. The OBI Desktop Utility provide functionality to create RTF (Rich Text Format doc) document, after installation of OBI Desktop Utility you can find as an add inn, as an extension to Microsoft WORD. All the properties of MS word and OBI Desktop Utility get integrated and allow inserting fields, Tables, Charts, Forms into word document to create RTF template, get preview and also allow accessing MS WORD features There are two modes to create RTF template and report 1. Offline Mode 2. Online Mode Creating reports Using BI Desktop Publisher Utility in Offline Mode To create and preview a BIP report you need an xml data file and a template. 1. Load an xml data file from Load Data Menu that will be used as a data source for preview of RTF template based report. (Loading XML data is must to access all functionality of OBI Desktop Utility and to build a template) 2. There are two load options available into load data menu

A) Load Sample XML: - Using Sample XML folder option you can load an XML file which holds all the fields to insert into template to build template and preview result according to its data. B) Load Xml Schema: - Using XML schema option to load an XML schema (.xsd) file which holds all fields available in report XML data and ready to preview of report, this sample xml not contain all the fields from data source. 3) Load Sample XML: - Go to Load data Menu Select Sample XML folder.

4) Browse the DATA XML file Select XML file and click Open.

5) After loading data successfully click ok on the message box.

6) Now insert field options allow to insert field into template.

7). Click on All Fields to insert all fields into template according to XML data file.

8). Now go to Preview Menu options for preview of this template,

#### The file format of template is .doc right now, you need to change and save this template into .rtf format, that OBI Publisher supports Rich Text Format of template. 9) Select any one of preview option to get preview with result. It will show a message This function requires the document to be in Rich Text Format (.rtf)

10). Click Ok on Message Give a name to save this RTF template at your desired location.

11). After pressing on Save button, you will get preview according to fields of your template.

**## Now the RTF is created and ready to modify for more views. 12). For this current RTF you can use different preview options like PDF/EXCEL/EXCEL2000/RTF and Powerpoint. Creating Different RTF Templates using Insert Menu Options A--1. To insert a field into template go to Inset Menu from BI Publisher Add-inn 2. Click on the Insert Field button Select fields from field selection box and click Insert button.

3. Selected fields will appear into template now select any preview format of report result. (**## this field selection will generate result for first data set of its relevant field from XML data source) 4. Select a preview format to preview for result.

B--1. Inserting Table/Form into Template Go to insert menu option select Table/Form option.

2). Drag the nodes from data tree from data source box to the table structure into template box to create the box.

3). Select Drop All Node option to drop all fields. If you want to select single node, select single node.

4). Click ok to insert into template.

5). Click on preview button for preview.

C). Using Table Wizard to insert field into template. 1. Go to Insert Menu Select Table Wizard. 2. Select Table radio button for table Click Next button.

3. Check Data Set for grouping field for report Click Next button.

4. Select fields to show in report and arrange their position in result preview Click next to Group Report or Finish to add fields in template.

5. Click on next to move for group report window options.

6. Click Finish to insert fields into template.

7. Go for Preview Click on Preview in PDF.

D). Using Table Wizard to insert form field into template. 1. Go to Insert Menu Select Table Wizard. 2. Select Table radio button for Form Click Next button.

3. Check Data Set for grouping field for report Click Next button.

4. Select fields to show in report and arrange their position in result preview Click next to Group Report or Finish to add fields in template.

5. Click on next to move for group report window options click next to sort the data. 6. Click Finish to insert Form fields into template.

7. Go for Preview Click on Preview in PDF/ MS-Excel.

E). Using Table Wizard to insert form field into template. 1. Go to Insert Menu Select Table Wizard.

2. Select Table radio button for Free Form Click Next button.

3. Check Data Set for grouping field for report Click Next button.

4. Select fields to show in report and arrange their position in result preview Click next to Group Report or Finish to add fields in template.

5. Click on next to move for group report window options click next to sort the data. 6. Click Finish to insert Form fields into template.

7. Go for Preview Click on Preview in HTML/ MS-Excel.

F). Insert Chart into template. 1. Select Chart Option from insert Menu. 2. Set Layout for chart, in builder tab Drag a node into value Section which holds numeric values like measure and a column into Labels Set Aggregation Rule for Value,

3. Select desired Type for Chart, style and set properties Click on Preview button.

4. Click on the Advanced tab to view the code for chart into template.

5. Click on ok button to insert chart into Template.

6. Now go for preview of chart into different formats.

G). Insert Pivot Table into Template. 1. Select Pivot Table Option from insert Menu.

2. Set Layout for pivot table view and set properties for aggregation rule and sort order for columns.

3. Click OK to add pivot table view into template, Total field comes by default with pivot table and also it generate total at button and at last for each field on both axis.

4. Go for preview of this template.

5. Another set up of pivot table.

7. Click OK to insert, pivot table into template.

Creating Reports and Layouts into BI Publisher Enterprise To create templates and reports need to logon in add in into MSWORD. 1. Working with OBI Publisher Utility, after successful installation of BI publisher Desktop, it is available as add in into MS word Click on the BI Publisher tabClick on Logon.

2. Enter weblogic / Analytics username and password as and also the OBI Publisher report server URL as shown below.

3. Now all features of template builder are available to access with all MS word properties. Close the Open template window.

4. Click on Open folder option to open prebuilt BI Publisher Enterprise reports.

5. Select a report from catalog to create rtf template and generate report on behalf of this existing prebuilt report.

6. Go to Insert Menu Select Table Wizard. 7. Select Table radio button for table Click Next button.

8. Check Data Set for grouping field for report Click Next button.

(**##Check out and compare the data set name difference from offline mode) 9. Select fields to show in report and arrange their position in result preview Click next to Group Report or Finish to add fields in template.

10. Click on next to move for group report window options or click on finish button to finish the wizard.

11. Click Finish to insert fields into template.
