That loss snappeda UW record 32-game home winning streak vs. non-conference op-ponents and moved the Huskies to .500 for the season. Washington-Cal St. Northridge History 
The Huskies are 4-0 against the Matadors. Last time Cal StateNorthridge came to Hec Edmundson Pavilion, the Huskies edgedthem out 88-76 on Dec. 6, 2009. Isaiah Thomas had 21 and QuincyPondexter 20 that night. The only current Huskies that played wereAbdul Gaddy (11 pts) and Darnell Gant (1 pt, 5 rebs). Two playersfrom the Matadors, Michael Lizarraga and Vinnie McGhee, played inthat game. Lizarraga scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, whileMcGhee came off the bench and scored 14 points. Husky CoachLorenzo Romar is 3-2 all-time against Cal-State Northridge, with allthree wins coming as the UW coach and both losses coming whileat Pepperdine.

Wroten Among Nation’s Best Freshmen
Tony Wroten
is making a huge mark in college basketball despitebeing just 10 games into his career. He currently ranks third in theconference with 16.4 points per game and leads all conferencefreshmen in scoring and steals (1.4 spg). His scoring average is alsothe sixth best among all college freshmen (thru Monday’s action)and tops among freshmen from traditional power conferences.Here’s a look at the top scoring freshmen from around the nation:

(1978) -- tallied. Wroten has scored20+ in three games and is the first Husky freshman since Spencer Hawes tallied 20+ in four straight gamesin 2008. At his current pace, Wroten could threaten the UW freshman record for points in a season. IsaiahThomas scored 541 in 35 games as a freshman and averaged 15.5 ppg. Another record Wroten may assaultis free throw attempts by a freshman. Thomas shot 202 for an average of 5.9 attempts per game. Wroten hasshot 72 so far this season for 7.2 attempts per game. The all-time record regardless of class is 242 by LouieNelson in 1973.
Huskies’ Last Time Out
AP - Nate Wolters scored 34 points as South Dakota State broke Washington’s 32-game nonconference homewinning streak with a 92-73 victory Sunday. Griffan Callahan added 16 points and Chad White scored 12 forthe Jackrabbits (10-4). Tony Wroten led Washington (5-5) with 23 points. Darnell Gant added 15 and C.J.Wilcox scored 12 points for the Huskies. Washington’s last nonconference home loss was to Valparaiso in theCollege Basketball Invitational on March 14, 2008. Its last regular-season nonconference home loss was Dec.8, 2007, to Pittsburgh. Washington used a 15-8 run to open the second half, cutting South Dakota State’s leadto 59-48 with 13:30 remaining. But, the Jackrabbits used numerous trips to the free-throw line to broadenthe lead. Brayden Carlson made two free throws with 9:15 left to expand South Dakota State’s lead to 70-52.

Lorenzo Romar
is in his 10th season asthe 18th head men’s basketball coach at Washington. Romar is the dean of coachingin the Pac-12 having spent more seasons at Washington than any other current Pac-12 coach at their school. Romar owns a
200-107 (.651) record at Washington
andis
293-195 (.600) in 16 seasons
as a head coach. The first African-American headbasketball coach at UW, he moved to
third all-time in victories at UW
after passingTippy Dye on Jan. 16, 2010. That win was also the 250th overall during his coachingcareer. Romar has led Washington to six NCAA tournament Appearances -- all inspurts of three-consecutive seasons (2004-05-06 & 2009-10-11) -- and the school’sfirst back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances (2005 & 06). Overall, he has led Washingtonto three Sweet 16 appearances. He was the 2005 Pac-10 and Black Coaches Association Coach of the Year.Romar played point guard for Marv Harshman’s 1979 and 1980 teams and spent five years in the NBA aftercollege. Prior to UW, Romar served as the head coach at Saint Louis (1999-02) and Pepperdine (1996-99) andwas an assistant coach at UCLA (1992-96) - He helped lead the Bruins to the 1995 national title. A nativeof Compton, Calif., he graduated from Pius X High School. Romar and his wife, Leona, have three daughters:Terra, Tavia and Taylor - a current UW cheerleader.
Unprecedented Success Under Romar
The Huskies are enjoying their greatest stretch of success in team history under the direction of LorenzoRomar. Besides three Sweet 16 appearances, three Pac-10 tournament championships and one regular-season Pac-10 title, the numbers show Romar has entered unchartered territory. From 2004-2005 -- Romar’sthird season at UW -- to now, the Huskies have won 166 games, the most ever in a seven-year span of UWbasketball history. He has averaged 21.7 wins per season during his nine year UW career and has amassedfour of the seven largest single-season win totals in UW history. Romar has five 20-win season under histenure -- a mark that only trails Hec Edmundson’s 11 seasons with 20+ wins.
