I last wrote an editorial in 2007 for the Londonissue and then left you for the flu pandemics,the global financial crisis and the social mediacesspool that’s still called MySpace. You didn’tdie from any of these. Good. I didn’t think you’dlast this long.Our Paris/France issue is the last of its kind.Cyberpunk - what this magazine was (and in asense, still is) dedicated to - outside the US hasdeep roots in British, Japanese and French popculture. With these 80 pages we’re paying ourrespect to what France added to cyberpunk,giving you a heads up on who to listen to,what to watch and where to go for a beer ifyou’re stuck in Paris. As in all previous issuesso far, we’re mostly concentrating on music,the language that’s far easier to use for sharingemotions (and beer) than any other systemof communication on this globe. With that inmind, keep away from people who claim theydon’t like music. They shrug when they saythat. It means they are dull and boring. Theyare also grey from the inside and their meatstinks. We avoid them. So should you.You’re probably curious about me saying weonly *were* dedicated to cyberpunk. Let meexplain. We love presenting pivotal points viatheir underground music scenes, giving a long-ing look into the future from the outskirts ofcities. Now that we’re back, it’s like emergingfrom the Vault, laying eyes on a barren vistaof glorious, LSD-laden destruction. Cyberpunk,you see, has cheerfully led us into a blind alley,the age of I’ve-seen-everything-already, a timewhen the coordinate system of EVERYTHING-NOW-SHINY is gasping for breath: it is wonder-ful, kinky, terrifying and doesn’t leave us a lotof places to go. And the best way to head isin the general direction of over the skylineand far away. Giving you all the freedom forexploration.Everything we ever wanted is mostly herearound us and success (whatever it meansto you) almost always depends on yourdetermination. Because cheesy as it sounds,you still form the future, in silly little ways andremarkably glorious ways as well. We’re livingin what we thought cyberpunk would be. Endof story. Not pounding the obvious into yourshrieking little head meat. Read on. We havestories to tell.By the way, if you pirated this issue, you doembody a generation of customers global busi-ness models still don’t approve of, the one thatwants everything now, just like the techno kidsin the nineties.
