hi,

i do believe that we as human being, want to live in peace and harmony. and since each person has his/her own characteristics, so then they will find their best way to live in this world. for me, buddhism has been helping me a lot since i knew it. i find peace and harmony in practicing buddhism.
and i believe the same for others. you would always say that your religion is the best. it's okay. so why not we just live in peace and harmony?!

just for you know, even when the Buddha still lived in this world, He knew that not everyone would understand his teaching. or in another word, even when the buddha still lived in this world, not everyone became his followers...

so, just let the life runs as it is

Dr. Zakir Naik it seems to me that your knowledge of Buddhiism is very limited in scope. You might have studied the history of Buddhism but you lack the wisdom to understand the true essence of the Buddha's teachings.
Simply, the Buddha's teachings were divided into two categories as a means to distinguish between his provisional teachings thus "Hinayana' and his true teachings thus "Mahayana." The Hinayana teachings were a "means" not an "end". It was a means to prepare and lead his disciples and followers to his actual enlightenment. He used 42 years of his preaching in this endeavor.
On the other hand, he spent 8 years of the later years of his life to expound on his enlightenment. Thus, Mahayana was based on the Buddha's supreme enlightenment to the Ultimate Law of Life and the universe. That is, the ultimate reality behind the universe; the entity of all phenomena. This Law of Life(The Mystic Law) which was the bases of his enlightenment, is the law of all laws. All laws derives from this Law. It is the Law that governs all life functions. Laws of physics, chemistry or the laws of nature derives from this Law.

Mahayana Buddhism is divided into two categories. Theoretical and essential. The theoretical Mahayana is based exclusively on the theory of life(Ichinen Sanzen) as formulated and expounded by T'ientai the Great of China. Ichinen means "One's Mind". And "Sanzen" means 3000worlds in a single moment of life.

Whereas the laws of physics, chemistry, the laws of nature and the laws of science in general explore the outer vastness of space and time, Buddhism explores one's mind and the inner vastness of oneself and its connection with the universe.

The essential Mahayana is based exclusively on manifesting the Buddhas enlightenment in ones daily life. This means that since we are the universe and the universe is us(the microcosm within the macrocosm) we, as we are, possess the dynamic force of the universe. So through faith in the Ultimate Law of Life(Mystic Law) we can manifest the same power inherent in the universe. This inherent power of the universe is identical to the Buddha nature in us. Thus, Buddha is life itself.

Dr. Zakir Naik Judaism, christianity, and Islam are based on the religion of fear and morals. Buddhism, on the other hand, is based on the cosmic religious feeling. Please never forget this distinction.

Thank you Abdullah.
its very nice of you do what you did.
im sure the author means no harm, but when you see what religion and people are doing to the world today, i feel propgating peace and focussing on being a good human being is more important that following rituals without understanding why.

have a great day.

What suprises me the most is the fact that the author is obviously a very biast practioner of Islam, where he does not have the capacity to see what his own religions preaches, but is very open in calling other practices and religions names....its people like this who cause terrorism in the name of faith. and why would someone like this who doesnt practice the faith himself be a scholar to wriet on Buddhism.
its strange how people who know very little take it upon themselves to ridicule other faiths.
The author seems to have forgotten that just by making some other philosophy look bad, his own will not be appreciated and applauded.
Infact its people like this who make life difficult for Muslims with their constant propganda to show which is the pure religion and who should be called God.

Once he has understood what his own religion preaches, maybe he will abstain from focusing on the evils of others and redirect to himself.

thoroughly disappointed.

Your book is built on a faulty premise. First of all Buddhism is not a religion. (This is a common mistake). It offers a series of exercises and techniques to help us find peace in ourselves and the world. I believe everyone finds what they need spiritually when and where they need it. I also have observed people that truly believe in something are not threatened by other beliefs.

I found this article very interesting. However i do have some points. I am not an expert in Buddhism, nor am i a believer, however i am very well read in the area.

I agree with you strongly on the fact that Buddhism has a shroud of mystery which surrounds it, making it more appealing, this is however extremely dangerous and should be avoided.

Some of the statements used to back up your arguments are incorrect. Especially according to the Mahayana tradition, traditionally practiced in the western art world. I only skimmed for 2 minutes before i found several errors. Such as 'those who make propaganda on behalf of Buddhism often present it as a means of salvation'. I have read around 15 books on the topic and have never seen the word salvation used in any circumstance, i would be interested to see where you found this citation.

Also an image with description was quite interesting on page 12. 'At the foundation of buddhist superstition lies the idea that buddha is an idol with superhuman powers'. This is also slightly misleading. No Buddhist tradition that i'm aware of maintains that Buddha has/had 'superhuman' powers, only that he became enlightened being and he saw everything as it was. Buddhism states that he was no different from any other human being.

This is a very interesting piece though. Congratulations
