INTRODUCTION

Solid waste separation and recycling campaign is well planned to introduce solid waste separation and recycling technique. This technique is being exposed to the community as one of the alternative to overcome the increasing of the solid waste in our country, Malaysia. The dumping of solid waste leads to production and releasing of methane gas from disposal site which also contribute to the air pollution. Apart from that, this kind of problem can disturb the ecosystem balance and the environment which can also bring a big impact to the human health. Furthermore, if there is no immediate action being taken to reduce the increasing of solid waste, it will lead to the more complicated problem such as flashflood, increasing of the solid waste treatment cost and requirement of the disposal site. Nowadays, the management systems of the solid waste still not achieve the standard level in which the amount of the solid waste is expected to become approximately 30,000 tones in the upcoming 2020. The increasing of human population and rapid growth of economic activities cause the rate of waste production to increase at the rate of 2% per year. Approximately about 17,000 tones of the waste have been produced by Malaysian everyday. Some of the activities that will be carried out through this campaign begins from the collection of the waste, separation, transportation of the waste to the disposal site and etc. Next the solid waste that has been collected will be categorized into two categories which are biodegradable and non-biodegradable. Examples for the biodegradable waste such as food waste and for the non-biodegradable waste are glasses, plastics, can and etc. From this

campaign the community will be exposed to the correct technique and method to separate the solid waste. If the campaign is successfully being carried out the villagers of the Kampung Baru Bali will enjoy the better environment. This campaign will not only give benefits to the villagers but it will also help our country by reducing the maintenance cost of the solid waste. Therefore, the country will be able to generate the economy towards a better line of country to become a developed nation by 2020.
