2012 Congregational Meeting –
On Sunday, January 22

, at 1PM, Cedar will hold its annual congregational meeting after afellowship luncheon. The purpose of the meeting will be todiscuss and vote upon the proposed 2012 church budget and electchurch officers. The proposed church budget and slate of officersare out today.

– It is again time toelect church officers for the new year and nominate prospectiveofficers for 2013. Five men will stand for election at the Januarycongregational meeting: Ted Himebook & Craig Baker (elder),and Duane Saxton, Tom Dykema, & Jim Knott (deacon).

Candidates will not be running against each other.Rather, each one who receives a majority vote of confidence at ourCongregational Meeting will be installed shortly after the electionto serve a 3 year term. Session will also receive nominations inJanuary for prospective candidates to the office of Elder or Deaconto serve in 2013. Those who are communicant members in goodstanding may make nominations. Male communicant members ingood standing are eligible to be nominated as follows:

Please make your nomination in writing and include your signature andthe date. Hand the nomination to a member of session. These names will be keptconfidential.2.
 
Each man who has been nominated will be asked to join the Officers'Training Course that will be offered in 2012. A small amount of reading andhomework will be assigned. During the course of this year, the men will beasked to prayerfully examine themselves to discern whether they believe God iscalling them to this ministry at this time.3.
 
After the course has been completed, nominees for the office of Elderand Deacon who have faithfully attended the classes will be examined by theSession. Then, the names of those who have been certified by the Session willbe announced to the congregation for its prayerful consideration. Only at thispoint will we have official candidates.4.
 
Finally, the congregation will elect any Elders and Deacon candidatesat the 2013 Congregational Meeting.5.

– What a successful midweek ministry God granted us this fall. PTL! As in the past, we have beenstretched this fall, and now would like the congregation to get restedfor one month (in January), so that we can “launch” our winter/springterm on Wednesday, February 5

Winter Youth Retreat
– Mark your calendar! The 2012 OPCWinter Youth Retreat “all-nighter” will be held at the downtownYMCA in Grand Rapids on January 27-28 for 7

The YMCA facility includes many amenities,including two swimming pools, a water slide, two climbing walls,two full basketball courts, squash and racquetball courts and otherexercise equipment. are needed to walk alongsidebudgeting clients and work with them to help them get their budgetback on track while they are involved in the LOVING HELPProgram. This position is very fulfilling as you watch clients makeprogress weekly with their budget as you encourage them. WomenBudget Mentors who enjoy working with numbers are especiallyneeded to be matched with single women clients, but both men andwomen are encouraged to attend the training.
