the “FIRST MEETING RIGOBERTA MENCHÚ“ directed to the public and private entities
in order to create and consolidate the Insular Network of Coordination

On 13 of December in theMultifunctional Center Tranvia tookplace the
First Meeting RigobertaMenchú
in which there were in alltwelve entities: among them there wererepresentations of Cabildo, Town halls(Ayuntamiento), diverse Associations andConsulates; belonging to different pointsof the island, where the above mentionedentities are located.This action, framed within the general aims of the project, affect the necessity toguarantee that the information, advice and awareness about equality and gender violence will be extensible for the biggest number of social entities working directlyor indirectly with foreign women.The participated entities have been the protagonists in the above mentionedmeeting in which they have sat the bases for the creation of the network of coordination that will be named
“ Network Rigoberta”.
 
During the Meeting they detected different necessities in the intervention withforeign women victims of gender violence, by what they valued the creation of 
Strategic Lines of Intervention
, as a tool that will allow to define rules of proceedingand establishment of resource network facilitating the orientation of professionalsthat could broach a case of gender violence.Finally, between the other questions, they valued the creation of a list of distribution of entities that allows to maintain the coordination in the network; bymeans of this list it will be possible to communicate needs that should emerge in theattention on gender violence amongforeign women, requesting advice andexchanging information that could beeffective to intervene with the same onesand by this way to optimize the existingresources.The date for the

 Throughout four months of validity of the second Edition of theProject Rigoberta Menchú we have carried out the following actions:
Different technical meetings with woman’s specific areas in the Town halls
of Arona, Adeje, Santiago del Teide, Buenavista of the North, Garachico,Puerto de la Cruz between others. The above mentioned meetings havecentered on the presentation of the Project and its aims in addition to fixingactions to develop.
Technical meetings with associations, trade unions, consulates and healthcenters; presenting the aims of the Project and fixing the actions to develop.
Different formative and sensitization chats have been realized recounted toGender Violence among the Foreign Women. The same ones weredestined for different groups, such as: Forces and Bodies of State Security,health environment, technical staff and women in general.
Workshops of Interculturalidad directed to improve the social coexistence indifferent municipalities, and workshops of self-esteem directed to foreignwomen.
There have been covered the demands of psychological attention andindividual legal aid to foreign women who have derived us from differentresources.
The First Meeting Rigoberta Menchú of entities has developed on purposeto settle the bases of the network of coordination.
We communicate that the next 31
st 
of December, the second Edition of this Project comes to an end, for what its technical team and the managing entity, the Association for Integrated Development of Women MercedesMachado, want to be grateful for the interest and agreeable reception of theSecond Edition of the Project Rigoberta Menchú
