Dimensioning HSPA Streaming (GBR) services

Introduction
Feature RAN1004 brings in the support for streaming QoS traffic class RABs on HSPA, Streaming RABs are prioritized by the RNC higher than NRT traffic classes. Prioritization is based on Allocation Retention Priority (ARP) parameter received from the CN in RANAP RAB ASSIGNMENT REQUEST. RNC utilizes the parameter internally and provides it towards BTS through Scheduling Priority Indicator (SPI) value in NBAP RADIO LINK RECONFIGURATION PREPARE, Guaranteed bit rate (GBR) is supported for streaming traffic class in HSPA. Admission of a new user can be denied if the guaranteed bit rate cannot be provided to the user, or if the guaranteed QoS of existing users would be affected, DL and UL AAL2 Iub CAC is performed for HSPA Streaming services, taking into consideration Guaranteed Bit Rate (GBR) parameter indicated by CN: MAX CPS-SDU bit rate is calculated taking into account: 1.25 * Guaranteed Bit Rate (GBR) in DL, 1.1 * Guaranteed Bit Rate (GBR) in UL, AVE CPS-SDU bit rate is calculated taking into account Guaranteed Bit Rata value,

Dimensioning HSPA Streaming (GBR) services

General Rule
Streaming HSPA services are dimensioned on Iub similarly to PS R99 streaming services, using Multi-Dimensional-Erlang algorithm to calculate the number of Parallel Connections,

Dimensioning HSPA Streaming (GBR) services

Steps
Real-time traffic: Step 1. MD-Erlang bandwidth calculation
Multi-Dimesional Erlang B approach is used for real time services (using CS and PS real-time RABs). The Gross Peak Rate is defined on ATM level including Iub protocol overhead and DCHactivity. Offered Traffic [Erl] should also include SHO factor.

Bandwidth MD-Erlang = MD-Erlang [ Erlang; GrossPeakRate; Blocking-percentage ]

Step 2. Weighting over mean rates

Each RT bearer has assigned a certain portion of that total rate weighted according to the Gross Mean Rate (incl. Iub protocol overhead and SHO factor) contributed by each bearer. Then, an average number of connections is derived (based on the peak rate used for MDE) for each bearer.

ParallelConnectionsDCH = round-up [ GrossMeanRate_inclQoS / Gross PeakRate ]

Step 3. Check against MDE bandwidth

Parallel connections for the lowest bearer are eliminated, in order to fit previously calculated MDE bandwidth

Bandwidth = [ ParallelConnectionsDCH * PeakRate ] =< Bandwidth via MD-Erlang

Dimensioning HSPA Streaming (GBR) services

Steps
Real-time traffic: Step 4. Apply CAC formula to the calculated Parallel Connections
AVE95 CAC formula is applied to the HSPA Streaming services. MAX and AVE CPS-SDU bit rate is calculated according to Maximum and Guaranteed Bit Rate parameters given as input, with additional consideration of ATM overhead. Please note, that calculated number of Parallel Connections affects also the QT CAC algorithm by additional number of DCCH bearers.

Dimensioning HSPA I/B (NBR) services

Introduction
Feature RAN1004 brings in the support for Nominal Bit Rate for HSPA I/B services, In the scheduler NBR has higher priority than best effort but lower priority than GBR of real time users. Prioritization is based on Allocation Retention Priority (ARP) parameter received from the CN in RANAP RAB ASSIGNMENT REQUEST. RNC utilizes the parameter internally and provides it towards BTS through Scheduling Priority Indicator (SPI) value in NBAP RADIO LINK RECONFIGURATION PREPARE, DL and UL AAL2 Iub CAC is performed for HSPA I/B (NBR) services, however there is an ongoing CR1536 to remove it (no change in the dimensioning methods), DL and UL bandwidth reservation per HSPA I/B (NBR) connection is calculated taking into account Nominal Bit Rate parameter indicated by CN and ATM transport overhead, Similar values for MAX and AVE CPS-SDU bit rate are taken,

Dimensioning HSPA I/B (NBR) services

General Rule
HSPA I/B (NBR) services are dimensioned on Iub similarly to PS R99 NRT services: Option 1: estimating Parallel Connections on base of Traffic Model, Option 2: estimating Parallel Connections on base of MGR-PS QoS algorithm, Option 3: Parallel Connections defined manually
For Dimensioning Options description please refer to P3 Dimensioning Enabling slides: https://sharenet-ims.inside.nokiasiemensnetworks.com/Open/381293285

Bandwidth reservation per one connection is calculated similarly to HSPA Streaming services, with MAX CPS-SDU bit rate equal to AVE CPS-SDU bit rate,

Dimensioning Dual Iub

Introduction
Feature RAN1004 brings in Flexi WCDMA BTS support for carrying the U-Plane over both ATM and IP protocol stack simultaneously, HSPA and NRT DCH traffic can be carried over IP and all other traffic types (RT DCH, FACH, RACH, O&M and Control Plane) is carried over ATM. Traffic mapping is configurable in RAML -> WBTS -> IubTransportMedia parameter,

Dimensioning Dual Iub

General rule
Dual Iub dimensioning relies on similar dimensioning rules as defined for Full-ATM and Full-IP transport, Service set used for ATM and IP dimensioning depends on the Traffic Profile definition and transport media mapping with the following granularity:
DCH_RT (mapped always to ATM in Dual Iub) DCH_NRT HSDPA_RT HSDPA_NRT HSUPA_RT HSUPA_NRT

DCCH connections triggered by services with U-Plane mapped to IP are always treated as DCH_RT traffic and mapped to ATM transport, influencing CAC QT algorithm, C-Plane (CNBAP, DNBAP, AAL2SIG) is always mapped to ATM Transport similar CPlane dimensioning assumed as used in Full-ATM transport,

Dimensioning Dual Iub

Dual Iub in ANT_3G
Transport Configuration -> Transport Media Selection:

ANT_3G v2.1.3 brings in support for mixed Iu/Iur mapping to ATM/IP (not related to Dual Iub feature)

If Dual Iub is chosen for certain Area/Phase, it is possible to define ATM/IP mapping for the given service groups

Iub Outputs in Dual Iub contain both ATM and IP related sections,
