The need of each physician to be always well informedon the newest methods in the diagnosis, treatment,prescribing, and rehabilitation of patients suffering from avariety of disorders is universally accepted, but notuniversally implemented.This need for Continuing Medical Education (CME) hasbeen compounded by the rapid advancements inmedical science and technology. The medical doctor,dentist, pharmacist, nurse, clinical officer or laboratorytechnologist may not be current in the special knowledgeand skills that were acquired during their collegeeducation and may therefore become professionally andfunctionally senescent and obsolete.
Need to habilitateNeed to habilitate 
So there is need to habilitate those skills in order toserve efficiently in providing health care. Some of thepersonnel did not have sufficient background educationand hence would not benefit from rehabilitationprogrammes, let alone training in newer technologies.Even in the university faculties and departments thateducate and train the prospective health care personnel,many of the teaching staff would also requirerehabilitation of their skills that may have becomeobsolete. There is also constant need for suchrehabilitation in the health research institutes in order toprovide the relevant answers for the solution of nationalhealth problems
