In the Web 2.0 world, Rich Internet Applications
(RIA) are becoming the new standards for enhanc-
ing customer experience. But with the promise of
a better user experience, companies must also
consider whether or not the investment in RIA is
leading to the desired business results. This can only
be done through measurement and optimization.
According to a recent Forrester report , Web analyt-
ics tools should be used to uncover traffic patterns
that show how many users begin a task, how many
complete it, and where users drop off. But measur-
ing the value of RIAs have frequently been thwarted
by measurement obstacles, from the impact on user
behavior to limitations on what can be tagged and
measured on a page.
RIA Optimization, a feature of Omniture SiteCatalyst\u00ae, takes the guesswork
and inaccuracies out of RIA measurement. Instrumenting and measuring
each type of RIA environment in its native development language signifi-
cantly increases accuracy. This means more reliable information for crafting
optimization strategies and ultimately a better user experience.
\u2022 Visualize Activity and Impact. Examine visual overlays of button clicks and other click activity in active application areas to determine which activities are most profitable.
Armed with more accurate
measurements and profitability
reporting, you can better balance
the need for RIA in enhancing the
customer experience with the goal
of driving desired business results.
