Digital Composing & the Common Core:

Using Pop Culture to Nurture Diverse Voices

How many times have you wondered just how influential popular culture is in the lives of your students? This Western Massachusetts Writing Project Technology Event will examine elements from popular culture as a means for connecting learning with the new Massachusetts/Common Core Framework. The focus will be on Anchor Standards for use of digital media in writing and in reading. Participants will explore cultural influences in meaningful ways and through various rhetorical lenses. Participants will also do hands-on work with technology to create examples of how to use pop culture for composition in the classroom.
