2011 Programming Accomplishments
This year KFAR Jewish Arts Center reached presented or promoted 22 contemporary Jewish music and cultureevents, highlighting our heritage in concerts, classes and festival programs. We enriched understanding andappreciation of the Jewish people's contributions to the world for over 5,500 audience members. 20 ensemblesgraced the stage for us with nearly 230 performers altogether. We ensured a Jewish voice in the city's culturalinstitutions, working with the Chicago Cultural Center, Ars Viva Symphony, the Chicago World Music Festivaland over a dozen beloved area arts and music venues.KFAR presented the amazing diversity of our cultures through the genres of rock, hip-hop, symphonic, comedy, folk, classical choral,musical theatre, opera, jazz, world, steampunk, Latino, Sephardic or Klezmer and in ten languages including English, Hebrew, Yiddish,Spanish, French, Ladino, Polish, Ukranian, Russian and Arabic. Our programs were repeatedly written up in the critical press, manybeing "Critics' Picks" including two Chicago Sun-Times Weekend section cover stories.
In short, KFAR Jewish Arts Center has become the Chicago area's leading presenter of Jewish arts and music programs.
You may have witnessed some of these dazzling events yourself, but you needn't attended one to understand KFAR Jewish ArtsCenter's undeniable impact. Throughout the year, KFAR presented nearly two dozen opportunities to experience the wonder and whileother organizations bombarded you with donation requests, we presented programs. We haven't asked for a dime all year.But now, we do need your help. KFAR Jewish Arts Center relies heavily on the generous contributions from individuals to continueenriching our community at this impressive level. Like most non-profit arts organizations, we have learned to stretch every dollar tomaximize value. Our ticket revenue from events, however, barely meets program expenses and despite our successes, the lingeringeffects of an recent economic downturn make your support all the more important.Your generous year-end gift or annual membership at the Sustaining Level and higher allows KFAR Jewish Arts Center its importantwork of presenting and promoting throughout the region. Starting at $180 annually, you can share in making an impact for thepreservation and advancement of Jewish arts, music and culture for all to enjoy for years to come.
In 2011, KFAR Jewish Arts Center reached a new zenith, with a full season of programming whose highlights included:
A total of 22 events produced and promoted, including festivals, concerts, lectures and workshops
Presentation at over 13 different venues throughout the Chicago region in the city and suburbs
Performances by over 20 ensembles comprised of nearly 300 musicians, educators and artists
Genre mix of Opera, Rock, Hip Hop, Klezmer, Comedy, Symphonic, Steampunk, Latin, Sephardic, Jazz & Musicals
A total compiled audience of over 5500 event attendees averaging 250 attendees per event
