It is important to recognize the hard work, dedication and forward looking mission of thiswebsite, like Prem Chumber there are numerous dalit/Ambedkarite/Buddhists who aredoing their share in splintering the hindu media in India as well the world media, bytaking dalit issues to the center stage on their own terms but not waiting for theestablished news groups. The main news papers like Hindu, Indian Express, Times of India, Daily Thanthi,Deccan Herald and other similar such news groups in India are still following the biasedand self centered policies, they seldom have any time to write about issues that aretarnishing the Indian society and the future of India. All these news groups cannot andwill not focus on real issues, furthermore they outrightly ignore the dalit issues inparticular. I said about this time and again in my upliftthem blogs, I am not going tochange this stand on Indian media or the foreign media who writes about India. They allhave the same approach, it is their nature, it is their very altruistic and bigotry natureand they often ignore to give due importance to dalit issues.Unfortunately, those readers and internet visitors who cling to this modern newssystems like internet, blogs and message groups are also doing the same mundanethings in their writings, these young writers do share those traditional bigoted approachlike the News Papers, however there are few exceptions that you will notice elsewherein this editorial.
What is happening in the Digital world?
Ever since internet and IT became part of our lives, there is a tremendoustransformation of our communication system, communication media, interpersonalcommunications and also in the press and TV media. This is a great challenge for thetraditional media, so they have all facing this challenges some of them make it, andothers are loosing the battle in this changing times?.But, for the right thinking individuals and groups, this changing times are a superbopportunity to grab and boot the conventional news, as the consequence is our emergence of digital media, which is sending shrills into the spines of shivering"Traditional Media."This is true as far as Indian national news media groups concerned, certainly also truein the international media networks like New York Times, Times,Observer or Gaurdianlike news. It is the modern bloggers and the internet news sites that are makingtremendoous progress steadily among the readers, just ask New York times or other such giant news moguls about how much revenue they are loosing from advertisementand subscriptions, you will know the truth. Ironic, is in't??. This is happening at the priceof these news media carrying mundane, celebrity driven and worthless news by ignoringwhat people actually need and what this society needs in terms of news on a day to daybasis. The traditional Indian news groups like Hindu, Indian Express and Times of India andthe likes are fully staffed by hindu people who are to the most part are chauvinistic, casteistic people, who cannot think out of their little "Frog's Well" to say so!?.
First of all, the newsmen and woman in India have this eternal bias and bigoted heads, but the other issue is the "Fear of loosing everything they accumulated and squanderedby betraying the society and poor people?. If dalits move into the media, and if theybecome media moguls in India, which will be the disastrous end to all those who arerunning the news group. There will be hardly any non hindus (majority Indians such asthe Shudras, Bcs and Sc, Sts) will buy the traditional media), this means only 15% of the population of India who will care about the traditional media, the rest of 85% the realnon-hindus will go for the insightful dalit media.Dalit Media, oh yea?, what is dalit media anyways?. I am quite sure there is lot of Indians including some dalits asking this question or pondering over whatever is DalitMedia is all about?.Some of the Blogs and website that are challenging the traditional news papers arelisted, these to the most part are run by dalits, except few but the few of them aregenuine writers who seek attention to dalit issues (blogs such as: Ultra violet). Some of the Key blogs and sites are listed below, they range from Dalits writers blog to otherswho honestly see this casteism and it's pathological effect of Indian society, needsutmost importance to change India. Deepak, I appreciate your collections of dalit issues. Recently I found that my editorial on Dalit media is listed as one of your collections, I am happy to see the interest. Please make sure to put the Original author of the article when you list in your collections, right now it says from your name, that is misleading. Thx, JaiBhim
