This work aims to analyze the use of Manipulative Material in the learning and teaching process, focusing “what for”, “why” and “how” to use them, in order to verify the contribution that propitiate while mediators in (re)construction of mathematical meanings. The information pick up was granted by a bibliographic research, based in Lorenzato, Fiorentini, Matos and Serrazina, Bezerra, Moraes and Chaves; by field work, with Study Group, with the help of Open Structured Questionary and of Work Filling Card, which solicited i. the treatment of the correspondence Golden Material-Natural Numbers, through the operations resolutions mediated by this instrument; ii. by the informer report. The analysis, realized under a qualitative boarding with a exploratoty and descriptive characteristic, conduced the reflection while the autonomy of each informer in the process and while the teacher-researcher posture, making possible some discoverings.
