1. A method or plan chosen to bring about a desired future, such as achievement of a goal or solution to a problem. 2. The art and science of planning and marshallingresources for their most efficient and effective use. The term is derived from the Greek word for generalship orleading an army.

Interactive Discussion Health Education comprises consciously constructed opportunities for learning involving some form of
communication designed to improve health literacy, including improving knowledge, and developing life skills which are conducive to individual and community health.

General objective: Statement, in more or less precise terms, of the trend of the learning activity. The
statement, which defines the outcome of the learning activity, represents a particular point in the general orientation of a curriculum. (The general objective is the first level of specification of the aim from which it derives.)

Specific objective: Statement which describes the trend of the learning activity. It is formulated in
terms of observable behaviour. (It is an interpretation of the general objective from which it derives.)

Health Promotion is the provision of information and/or education to individuals, families, and
communities that-encourage family unity, community commitment, and traditional spirituality that make positive contributions to their health status. Health Promotion is also the promotion of healthy ideas and concepts to motivate individuals to adopt healthy behaviors.

Disease prevention covers measures not only to prevent the occurrence of disease, such as risk factor
reduction, but also to arrest its progress and reduce its consequences once established. Disease prevention is considered to be action which usually emanates from the health sector, dealing with individuals and populations identified as exhibiting identifiable risk factors, often associated with different risk behaviors.

Public health: The approach to medicine that is concerned with the health of the community as a
whole. Public health is community health. It has been said that: "Health care is vital to all of us some of the time, but public health is vital to all of us all of the time."

Illness Meaning poor health resulting from disease of body or mind; sickness; a disease.

Rate the speed or frequency with which an event or circumstance occurs per unit of time, population,
or other standard of comparison.

Life expectancy
The probable number of years a person will live after a given age, as determined by mortality in a specific geographic area. It may be individually qualified by the person's condition or race, sex, age, or other demographic factors

Loss: the disappearance of something cherished, such as a person, possession or property.

The definition of loss also includes "the act or instance of losing; the failure to keep or get something valued; the harm or suffering caused by losing or being lost; losses a.k.a. casualties occurring during wartime; destruction; and a measurable reduction in some substance or process."

Health Survey
A widely used, valid, and standardized questionnaire used to measure an individual's overall subjective health status. The eight concepts measured by the survey are body pain, general mental health, perception of general health, physical functioning, role limitations caused by mental condition, role limitations caused by a physical condition, social functioning, and vitality.

Health Education and Promotion (HEP) is a primary resource to help you achieve wellness through
student-centered education and creating health-promoting environments. Professional staff and student staff and volunteers focus on issues related to nutrition, physical activity, sexual health, wellness, stress management, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs issues.
