Dear friends We have an educational issue for youthis time – but before you turn tailand run, let us explain. Our main feature is about learningand how helping people discover moreabout woods and trees is now moreimportant than ever before at the WoodlandTrust. But it’s a new kind of learning, out of the classroom, that will truly inspire. There’s also a literary flavour with arecommended booklist for youngerreaders (page 6) and even poetry (seeback cover). If you normally turn straight to thesection most relevant to you, it’s really worth taking a look at the rest of themagazine as well. Kate Atkin has written a very wise article full of tipsfor anyone who has to speak publicly. And if you ever have to publiciseanything, SianThomas’s advice on writing news releases could proveinvaluable (page 13).Congratulations to the winners of thisyear’sVolunteer of theYear (see right).Every year, judging gets more difficultbecause there are so many worthycandidates.TheTrust is grateful to allof our volunteers who make such adifference.Best wishes
