Merritt RCMP S/Sgtstole & used cocaine
Wednesday afternoon, Mike Sekela, the Chief Superintendent responsible forthe RCMPSoutheast District, held apress meeting in Chilliwack to "advise of an investigation that involves the MerrittRCMPDetachment Commander."Last Friday, Jan. 6, Merritt's Staff SgtStuart Seib self-disclosed his actions to afellow RCMPofficer: that he had stolenand used drug exhibits — specificallycocaine — from the evidence locker.Apparently, there were multiple thefts. Hewas arrested Tuesday, charged with theft(additional charges are anticipated) andsuspended from duty with access topolice facilities revoked. Asuspensionwithout pay is being recommended, andthat issue should be dealth with today.Seib was transferred from Clearwaterin November 2011, and investigatorswill go back over his 18-year RCMPcareer to determine whether any otheroffences may have taken place. An auditof all exhibits formerly under Seib’s con-trol will also take place."While the alleged actions of thismember are extremely troubling, theyare clearly not representative of the highmoral and ethical standards of the vastmajority of the members of the RCMP,"said Sekela.CTV was in town yesterday, gettingthe word on the street, seeing how resi-dents are grappling with the news. While some residents may be shocked,Merrittonians have seen their fair shareof RCMPsensational criminal conduct— Don White (S/Sgt who harrassedNancy Sulz to the point that she wasawarded $1million+ in the 1st law suit of its kind); Saxon Peters (the first RCMPmember ever charged with torture);Monte Robinson (one of the 3 who killedRobert Dziekanski at the Vancouver air-port & who later killed a cyclist with hisSUV while intoxicated then fled thescene). And there’s the constant shuffleof officers in & out of this town almost like the catholic brothers — aboutwhich we never know any solid details. But we also know those officers whorelocate to Merritt & become knit intothe fabric of the community — and whogive the RCMPwhatever good name it’sstill got. You know who you are...

I'm on a whiskey diet.I've lost three days already.Tipping the Dealer
A blackjack dealer and a player with a thirteen count in his handwere arguing about whether or not it was appropriate to tip the dealer. The playersaid, "When I get bad cards, it's not the dealer's fault. And, when I get good cards, the dealer obviously has nothing to do with it. So, why should I tip him?" The deal-er replied, "When you eat out, do you tip the waiter?" "Yes, sure I do," respondedthe player. "Well then, he serves you food, and I'm serving you cards. So you see,you should tip me." "Okay, I see your point," agreed the player. "But, the waitergives me what I ask for ... I'll take an eight."
