Book Synopsis:
Barack Obama understands that while the negativity of smear and fear has its initial impact, what really moves most of us is a desire to feel good about and to be in control of our circumstances, our futures, our communities, and most importantly, ourselves. He understands the difference between inspiration and motivation. Understanding this difference is what moves ordinary people from complacency to positive action. Positive action, originating in positive energy is what yields positive results.
In the future, Obama will be studied as one of the greatest leaders of modern times. Obama doesn't call forth volunteers– he calls forth the leader that resides in all of us. He demands personal accountability—and gets it. He has created an army of grassroots volunteers that is not only contributing financial resources but hours of service in any number of tasks. He has tapped into the spirit of first-time voters and re-kindled the spirits of baby boomers, long searching for a return of the days of JFK, MLK and Bobby.

This book is more than a book on human energy leadership principles, however. It is a compilation of the voices of America with contributions by leadership experts, authors and citizens from all corners of the globe. Greetings,
My name is Antoinette and I would like to share a poem that I wrote during my Freshman year of college at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, for the Campus Newspaper. I enjoy writing inspirational poetry and I look forward to reading Barack Obama's new book. Thank you for the opportunity to share my poem.

Title: To Be Black and Female

What does it mean to be black and female?
Well I'll tell you in this short little tale.
To be accepted we must work twice as hard, just like our ancestors who have been utterly scarred.

We are the next generation,
with us comes more expectation.
We must overcome and bear, the burdens and pain that we share.

To be the best we have to give our all,
let not our weary bodies fall.
To walk the road to success,
we have to push and push to be the best.

Well that's not so bad you might say.
But you just try to black and female today!
