Job Classification: Trainer
This position is responsible for the development and facilitation of job readiness training programs and careerdevelopment days/workshops for hard-to-employ participants with multiple barriers. The Trainer provides training atmultiple sites, maintaining a training environment that it is conducive and motivating to adult learning and incorporating avariety of instructional techniques and formats including but not limited to: role playing, simulations, team exercises, groupdiscussions, videos, assessments and lectures. Responsible for monitoring, evaluating and recording participantassessments, training activities and program effectiveness. In this role, the Trainer works closely with case managersand other workforce development staff to assist participants in reaching short- and long-term employment goals.Individual accountabilities and work volume will be established through the development of annual Success Objectives,within the framework outlined below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Training/Facilitation:
Facilitates a stimulating, informative, organized job readiness/search training program(s) to groups or individualsaccording to contract and/or program guidelines.
Facilitates orientation/recruiting sessions for workforce development programs
Prepares and facilitates Career Development Days/workshops which address participants’ employment issuesand prepares them for on-going career development.
Ensures classes/sessions are designed to effectively address various learning styles. Utilizes various modes ofinstruction to maintain active participation by program participants, including but not limited to: role playing,simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, assessments and lectures.
Establishes and maintains a learning environment conducive to adult learning, creatively working within sitelimitations.
Assists in the development of easy-to-follow, quality course curricula, leaders’ guides, Power Point presentationsand participant handouts/materials.
Schedules and prepares training rooms for classes, workshops, etc.
Distributes and clearly communicates training schedules to relevant parties.
Assists in recruiting participants with program staff and other collaborators.
Actively maintains knowledge of trends, developments and strategies in adult education and workforcedevelopment.
Administers, scores and analyzes participant employment assessments.
Counsels participants on strengths and areas of improvement needed for obtaining/retaining gainful employmentbased on the results of assessments and observation during classes.
Communicates with workforce development staff regarding participants’ understanding of job readiness trainingand known employment barriers.
Assist WD&I team in guiding participants in a practical job search and career development.
Refers participant's to other Heartland Alliance and/or outside resources to address employment barriers.
Completes all required paperwork in a neat and timely manner. Maintains participants’ files and organizationaldatabase to include all participant notes as required by program and/or contract guidelines.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma/GED and six (6) years experience in designing, developingand facilitating adult training workshops. May give consideration for equivalent combination of education andexperience. Proficiency in job search and motivational techniques required. Bachelors degree preferred.
Other Skills and Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficiency in facilitating quality, results-oriented adult educationsessions.
Valid driver’s license required.
