Note: In 1990, the total population of the PRC was 1,143,330,000; in 2000 it was 1,267,430,000; in other words, in a

decade the PRC’s population increased by 124,100,000 or 10.85 percent. Between 1990 and 2000, only the Tatars and the Uzbeks experienced a decrease of their population. Taiwan’s indigenous peoples (14 tribes officially recognized by the ROC government in June 2008) are not included in this table; Taiwan’s 14 tribes are: Amis (amei zu阿美族), Atayal (taiya zu泰雅族), Bunun (bunong zu布農族), Kavalan (gamalan zu噶瑪蘭族), Paiwan (paiwan zu排灣族), Puyuma (beinan zu卑南族), Rukai (lukai zu魯凱族), Saisiyat (saixia zu賽夏族), Sakizaya (saqilaiya zu撒奇萊雅族), Sediq (saideke zu賽德克族), Thao (shao zu邵族), Truku (tailuge zu太魯閣族), Tsou (zou zu鄒族), and Yami (yamei zu

雅美族). According to Taiwan’s Council of Indigenous Peoples (xingzhengyuan yuanzhu minzu weiyuanhui 行政院原住
民族委員會), more than 490,000 indigenous people were living in the Taiwan area in 2009.

PLEASE!! SINGAPORE is not part of Greater China nor do we ever want to be!!!!! As liberal as you are with your usage of the term, please take note that local sensibilities in Singapore will not be pleased with this indiscriminate lumping with China or other East Asian countries!! We are Southeast Asian in the Malayan region, and we speak English.
