Happy New Year and welcome to thethird issue of Spirit of the Times! Wehope to start 2012 as we mean to go onwith thought-provoking presentation ofpractical solutions-focused discussion.Throughout our ongoing support of theOccupy Movement as well as our own workand a little time spent with our loved onesthroughout the holiday period the stoiccommitment of a wonderful inter-state teamhas managed to produce this latest issue ofThe Zeitgeist Movement’s Australia-basedmagazine addressing the controversialissue of the transition to a new economicparadigm.Each of our bimonthly issues aims to presentTZM primarily within an Australian context,delivering chapter-specific news such as theestablishment of experimental Resource-Based Economy oriented communities inMelbourne and Adelaide, global updateson the Movement’s progress, informativearticles regarding contemporary issues,discursive analyses, social commentary,critical thinking, and book and film reviewswith content relevant to TZM aims andethos. Each issue presents its own “geisty”theme; and this one is “Economic Issues:Transition to a Resource-Based Economy”.It is in this, our third issue, that the conceptand process of transition to a resource-based economy are explored with regardto comparing the RBE with various othereconomic models, explaining how atransition may take place, and presentingsome steps that individuals can take toplay a role in facilitating a new and moresustainable economic paradigm.We hope that you will find this an inspiringand empowering read, and that you will findinformation worth sharing!Happy geisting,Kari McGregor & TZM team
