Power Point Basics – Office 2007
Choose Slide Layout
Each page of the presentation is called a “slide”.
Slide layout options are in the “Slides” section of the“Home” toolbar. Just click on the “Layout” button.
Click in text box to add text
When you click in the text box, you will get a cursor andcan start typing.
Fonts default to large sizes, but you can change sizes andstyles just like in word processing.
Add borders around text boxes and fill text boxes withcolor: In the “Drawing” section of the “Home” toolbar, click on the “Shape Outline” or “Shape Fill” button. The currenttext box selected on the current slide will receive the border or color fill you choose. 
Repeat!
Click on the “New Slide” button in the “Slides” section of the “Home” toolbar.
Add Clip Art
Go to the slide you want to put clip art on (use the scroll bar to go back to previous slides you’ve made)
In the “Illustrations” section of the “Insert” toolbar, click oneither “Clip Art” or “Picture”. Clip art are the images thatcome with Power Point. Choosing “Picture” allows you toinsert an image saved somewhere else on your computer,such as a photo taken with a digital camera.
To search for clip art, type a keyword in the search box onthe right side of the screen. Click on the one you want toinsert it in the current slide.
Resize the picture and move it around as necessary.
Remember: always resize from the
corners
of the image, notfrom the sides. This will save the image proportions.
Slide Transitions
In the “Animations” toolbar, there is a series of screen previews in the “Transition to this Slide” section.
There are also up and down arrows to let you scroll throughyour transition options.
When you hover your mouse pointer over any preview, youwill see the slide on your screen imitate that transition.
Until you actually click on one of the preview boxes, thechoice is not officially made for slide transition.
Animate Text
Click in the text box that you want to animate.
In the “Animation” toolbar, click in the “Animate” menu tomake your choice of type of slide transition.
Also in the “Animation” toolbar, you can choose“Transition Sound” and “Transition Speed”.
Using Background Designs
On the “Design” menu, click on the theme you want.
If you hover the mouse pointer over the different themeswithout clicking, you will see the slide change to imitatethat theme.
Until you actually click, the change will not be made.
The change will apply to all slides, not just the current slide.
To time your presentation
In the “Animations” menu, enter the number of minutes or seconds between slides under Advance Slide>AutomaticallyAfter.
You can also play the presentation on a continuous loop: Onthe “Slide Show” toolbar, click on “Set up Slide Show”.Check the box for “Loop Continuously until Esc”.Plymouth District Libraryhttp://plymouthlibrary.org
