the Oakland City Charter,theundersigned registered qualified voters
of
the City
of
Oakland,
in
the State
of
California,hereby give notice that we are the proponents
of
a recall petition and that we intend toseek your recall and removal from the office
of
Mayor,in the City
of
Oakland,California, and to demand election
of
a successor in that office.The grounds for the recall are as follows: Failure
of
leadership
by
taking a series
of
contradictory positions on matters
of
public safety, thereby demonstrating the inabilityto provide for the safety
of
Oakland neighborhoods and for the safety
of
those who wishto engage in public discourse;inappropriately delegating authority to persons other thanCity
of
Oakland employees to act on
behalf
of
the City
of
Oakland,resulting inconflicting messages from city hall and the resignation
of
key city personnel; thwartingthe public's right to know by routinely ignoring requests made under the CaliforniaPublic Records Act; and demonstrating the inability to make even routine decisionsregarding the management
of
city resources,resulting in the continually diminishingdelivery
of
basic city services. Oakland does not deserve to be known as the city
of
highcrime and crumbling infrastructure caused by ineffective leadership and themismanagement
of
