Winter on the Coq
Though this week’s travel advisoryon the Coquihalla was lifted by lastevening, Environment Canada’s weath-er forecast for high winds & blowingsnow is on through Thursday. Whileroad conditions are listed as ‘normal’ —compact snow with slippery sections —officials are asking drivers not to set outunless absolutely necessary. And com-mercial drivers bound for theCoquihalla must chain up.VSAis advising motorists not toexpect the weather to settle down untilApril, and to remain vigilant at all times.Driving at 110 km/hr is
unacceptable
given the snow and ice, but it’s up toindividual drivers to decide what speedis comfortable for them. The next couple of days, the forecastis for blowing snow, winds northeast 50-70 km/hr, some flurries, and temps -14to -17, with the wind chill putting itdown to -30 & -31.By Friday temps will be on the rise, going from -15 to +3, with snow or rain. Then Saturday will see rain, with tempswell above 0: low 6, high 7. And thattransition time is as dangerous on theCoquihalla as any winter weather!

Photo
When my husband visited our son, Michael, at boot camp, he found himmarching smartly with his unit. Michael's father proudly approached the soldiersand began to snap photo after photo. Embarrassed and worried about getting intotrouble, Michael looked straight ahead and didn't change his expression. Suddenlyhis drill sergeant barked, "Henderson, give me 25 push-ups. And the next timeyour daddy wants your picture, you smile!"
Piano Tuner
The doorbell rang and the lady of the house discovered a workman, complete with tool chest, on the front porch. "Madam," he announced, "I'm thepiano tuner." The lady exclaimed, "Why, I didn't send for a piano tuner."The manreplied, "I know you didn't, but your neighbours did."
