Moreover, the system requirements must be observed. Application The VAST XXT probing system can be used universally. It is possible to probe discrete points or perform scannings. Measurements performed with this system provide information on the dimensions, position and form of a workpiece. The three outer spheres on the stylus holder serve for adjusting the correct position in the stylus holder receptacle. The cor- rect fit of these spheres is monitored electronically. The fourth sphere servers for mechanically coding the stylus holder type. Laterally on the stylus holder, there are black markings at a distance of 120°. The markings are in the form of one, two or three dots. They serve for a better orientation when inserting the stylus holder. A spe- ial stylus holder is provided for each design version. 1. The inner sphere serves for the mechanical coding of the different stylus holders; a stylus holder for TL1 is shown. With TL2, the inner sphere is even closer to the magnet.
