The Watlow EB cartridge heater is a proven performer like the metric FIREROD. That's because the same quality materials go into its construction; MgO insulation, nickelchromium resistance wire, silicone-fiberglass insulated lead wires. The only difference is that the EB cartridge is packaged in a more economical design.

. That’s because thesame quality materials go into itsconstruction; MgO insulation, nickel-chromium resistance wire,silicone-fiberglass insulated leadwires. The only difference is that theEB cartridge is packaged in a moreeconomical design. Instead ofhaving the high watt densitycapabilities of a metric FIREROD,it’s made for medium watt densityapplications.

Features and Benefits
Magnesium oxide insulation,
compacted to the proper density, results in high dielectric strengthand contributes to faster heat-up.
Nickel-chromium resistancewire,
preciselywoundthrough theheated length, assures even, efficient distribution of heat to thesheath.
Metallurgically-bondedconductor pins,
crimp-connected to the resistance wires, ensure trouble-free electricalcontinuity. This process provideslead flexibility just 8 mm (
5

16
inch)from the end of the heater.
Flexible stranded wires,
withsilicone-fiberglass sleeve, insulatethe wires to temperatures of250°C (480°F).
Optional lead end with siliconerubber seal
protects the leadsagainst moisture and othercontaminants.

metric and inch-base chartswill tell you either the hole fit orrecommended watt density inrelationship to part temperature.Enter the chart with either knownvariable, part fit in hole dimension orwatt density. Then find the parttemperature by reading up or overon the chart. The part temperaturecurves shown are measured13 mm (

inch) from the heater in amild steel block. For stainless steelblocks, enter the graph with a fit of0.04 mm (0.0015 inch) larger thanactual. For aluminum and brassblocks, enter the graph with atemperature 55°C (100°F) aboveactual block temperature.
On-Off Cycling:
On-off cyclingshortens heater life. If the heatercycles more than once per hour, multiply the watt density, shown onthe chart, by 0.8 to determine themaximum allowable watt density forthe application. If the heater cyclesmore than once a minute, multiplyby 0.7.
