Terrapin Invite
Meet Preview:
For many athletes this weekend, it will be a bit of a homecoming, as the Retrievers attend theTerrapin Invite at the Prince George Sports and Learning Complex in the shadow of FedEx Fieldin Landover, Maryland. This meet represents the only meet that the Indoor Track and Fieldteams will be a part of on their native Maryland soil, and the home to many of the student-athletes accomplishments at the state level during high school.Expect to see a full slate of action, with all healthy athletes on the roster taking the track at onepoint or another during the course of the day. Do not be distracted by only the track events asthere could be fireworks in the field events on the infield. Coming off a record settingperformance last weekend, senior Aaron Brooks looks to build off that momentum and see if hecan push the fifty-two foot barrier in the shot. Additionally, junior Amanda Deller returns to thering after being out with an injury the past two meets. Finally, Mo Drammeh will be looking toreach new heights after fouling out last weekend at 6
11
in the high jump.On the track look to continued dominance in the 60 meters with Mercedes Jackson leading theway and Trae Proctor in the 60 meter hurdles. Kirsten Jones returns to action in the individualevents after seeing limited action the first two meets. Senior Imani Colbert is buildingmomentum with a seasons best 60 meter hurdles time last weekend. On the distance side, almost the entire team will be in action across three events. The men
smile will feature senior Tim Jones and a slate of freshmen. The 3,000 meters will give freshmanEric Schuler a chance to build off his personal best time in the mile last weekend and a chanceto make his mark in this event. For the women, look towards the 800 meters as leadingfreshman Mary Katherine Kulp is joined by fellow freshman Katrin Baumann.
Aaron Brooks:
Coming into his first meet of the season, onewould have expected some rust, however, Brooksled off with a solid throw. However, to expect theseries of throws to come next would have beenclairvoyant. Brooks surpassed his school record onhis next thrown by a couple centimeters, only tosmash the new mark by nearly a foot on his thirdthrow. His fourth throw was not shabby either, representing the second best throw in schoolhistory.

There were many othergreat performances in the field events with Cameron McDearmon winning the weight throw nearly matching hisperformance from last weekend. Mo Drammeh cleared 6

Junior Trae Proctor continued his success with asolid 5
