Top Ten Christian Principles byMichael RubachaChristian Worldview and ApologeticsPHI 633Dr. Terry Weaver January 17, 2012

Top Ten Christian Principles 1TOP TEN CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLESI don¶t necessarily believe that any two Christians must believe the same ten principles; I believe the gospel is simpler than that. ³Jesus Christ and him crucified´
1
(1 Cor. 2:2 NIV) willtake a man beyond necessity. Nevertheless, I¶ve compiled a list that I think is quite orthodox:1.

All have sinned and need forgiveness. Christians cannot deny this claim. Withoutaccepting this principle, no one could repent and become a Christian. But this is clearly taught:³for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God´
2
(Rom. 3:23), ³There is not a righteousman on earth who does what is right and never sins´
3
(Eccl. 7:20), and ³When they sin againstyou²for there is no one who does not sin´
4
(1 Kings 8:46). So we all need a Savior for theforgiveness of sins.2.

The crucifixion. Without the crucifixion there can be no forgiveness of sins because ³without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness´
5
(Heb. 9:22). Jesus was clear atthe Last Supper that His blood would bring forgiveness when He says, ³This is my blood of thecovenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins´
6
(Mat. 26:28). And Paul

Ecclesiastes 7:20

Matthew 26:28

Top Ten Christian Principles 2reaffirms this truth by writing, ³In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins´
7
(Eph. 1:7).3.

The bodily resurrection of Christ. ³If Christ has not been raised, your faith isfutile; you are still in your sins´
8
(1 Cor. 15:17). We must believe that Christ was raised from thedead because without His resurrection we also will not raise. Paul describes this as one of theitems of first importance in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, and states elsewhere, ³[Christ] was raised tolife for our justification´
9
(Rom. 4:25). If He did not resurrect then we have no justification before God²death wins.4.

Salvation is found in none but Jesus. Jesus Himself declares, ³I am the way andthe truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me´
10
(John 14:6). TheApostles believed this and were sure to spread the news, ³Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved´
11
(Acts 4:12). NoChristian should deny this exclusivity.5.

Christ is the perfect sin-free sacrifice. Because He was able to offer Himself ³unblemished to God´
12
(Heb 9:14) our consciences are cleansed ³from acts that lead to death, sothat we may serve the living God´
13
(Heb 9:14). If He was not sin-free, God would have rejected
