ACADEMICS
MATH February will see us focus on geometry in both 5th and 6th grade. SCIENCE We have had Science Fair on the brain for a few weeks now. ISTEP is about
Ye Olde Annex

a month away, and both 5th and 6th grades will be using the majority of our science blocks for math instruction. 5th grade is not tested on ISTEP for science, and 6th grade will be participating in a Science Boot Camp with Mr. Cross before ISTEP.

We are almost halfway through the third nine weeks. We are only a month from the first part of the ISTEP. I am looking forward to see how everyone buckles down and prepares that week before. We will work on test-taking skills, as well as more specific practice with short answer questions and critical standards.

PROJECTS
Due to the Science Fair and ISTEP, I am only requiring one nine weeks project for the third nine weeks, although many students have already completed their first one and got a second topic approved. I am continually impressed at the work ethic and determination that my students have when they are given the freedom to research and present a project on a topic of their choice. These projects meet a wide range of Indiana and Common Core standards, are engaging, and entertaining. And best of all, we learn about what other people are passionate about, broadening our own interests and knowledge.
