We held a
Club Assembly
this week primarily to discuss twoimportant topics: The new Employee of the Month program weare starting, and periodic night meetings of Moraga Rotary. The
Employee of the Month
(“EOM”) program
that hasbeen devised by a committee of
Kevin Reneau
Kurt Knauer
Cliff Dochterman
, and has been approved by the Board. This program would recognize each month an employee whoworks in Moraga, who has been nominated by his/her boss, and who is selected by a committee from Moraga Rotary andthe Moraga Chamber of Commerce. The Moraga Chamber of Commerce will be a participant in theprogram, and it has the backing of Moraga’s Mayor, MikeMetcalf, and this year’s Chamber President, Frank Melon,General Manager of the Moraga Country Club. The EOM would receive about $100 value of services and/or merchandise from Moraga businesses (which will be all or partially donated), and he would have his photo anda brief story placed in the Lamorinda Weekly.Kevin and his committee have worked out the Rulesand forms governing the nominating and selectionprocess, and will (with the help of Moraga Rotarians)solicit businesses to publicize and promote theprogram. This program will be featured on theMoraga Rotary web site, and nomination forms canbe printed from it.A general discussion of the EOM program followed, with most of the comments very supportive andhelpful. The idea of regular, periodic night meetings of Moraga Rotary would be to provide options toprospective members where attending a lunchmeeting is difficult. The Soda Center canaccommodate night meetings through June, butfuture commitments by the Center can’t beguaranteed into their new fiscal year. There are many details to determine. For example:* can the meetings be at the Soda Center or elsewhere, and if so, where?* what will the meetings be like, and can theyconform to our Rotary traditions?*should the night meetings be held monthly or at alonger interval?*can we improve membership with this program? The consensus of the Board is to try night meetingsthis year to see how they work out. The generaldiscussion centered around the details, which are tobe determined.
President Nora, Debbie Roessler, and Barbara Bruner  pose with District Governor Dave Dacus, showing off our Christmas stockings for Juvenile Hall. DG Dacus visiteour Club on Dec 6, 2011.
