Jan.1995).Despitetheirmoveawayfrompublicevents,whichAFAhasagoodrecordofdisrupting,AFAgroupsaroundthecountryremainactiveandorganised.Saturday2BthJanuarysawthreeanti-fascistactivitiesonthesameday,whichservetoillustrate(again)thedifferencebetweentheANLandAFA.TheannualBloodySundaymarchhasbeenafocusforfascist/Loyalistattacksovertheyears,andassuchisofinteresttomilitantanti-fascists.ThisyearthemarchorganisersmoveditfromLondontoManchester.ThreeAFAsquadspatrolledtherouteofthemarch,andinaseriesofskirmishesthefasciststookaclearsecondprize.OnegroupofunfortunateBNPmembers,whohadgatheredoutsideapub,weretrappedinaclassicpincermovementbytwoAFAstewardsgroupsandsufferedaccordingly.ClownoftheDayawardgoestotheidiotwho,whilestoodnexttoseveralAFAstewards,startedbrandishinghisStGeorge'sFlagandboastingaboutdoingthe"reds".Predictably,theensuingdebatewasshort,sharpandpainful.YetagainManchesterhasprovedtobeano-goareaforfascists.While

moralewasgettingdentedinManchester,inWinchesterthesituationwasequallybleak.ThecampaigntogetJohnMorsesackedfromhisjobasabusdriverhadcalledanotherdemonstration,andwhenthesedemonstrationshadbeencalledontwopreviousoccasions,eachtimetheyhadattractedprominentfascistsfromLondonandtheSouthEastto"counter-Clemonstrate"indefenceofMorse.ConsequentlyajointoperationWasorganisedbySouthamptonandSurreyAFA.Afterapreliminarysurveyoftheareaanumberof"suspects"wereidentifiedinapubadjacenttothebusstation.AsmallAFAcontingententeredthepubwiththeintentionofmakingsurethattheseindividualswere"activists".Asthemarchpassedthepubitself,itwasevidentthattheseindividualswerenotsimplypro-BNPbuthadcomefromBirminghamwiththespecificintentionofattackingthedemonstrators.Byconvincingthisgroupthattheyweresympathetic,theAFAmembersaccompaniedthesefascistsupthecitycentrehighstreetwiththeintentionof"picking
off
Ieftystragglers",Thefascistswere,infact,leddirectlyintoacontingentofmilitantanti-fascistswheretheywere"dealtwith"intheappropriatemanner.ThoseelementsoftheBNPfromBirminghamwerelastseenhidinginshopsandscramblingfortheprotectionofthelocalconstabulary-atlveryundignifiedforthe"masterrace."IncontrasttothedamageinflictedonthefascistsinManchesterandWinchester,theANLdemonstrationinCardiffprovidedthefascistswiththeopportunitytoboosttheirmorale,withanANLcaranditspassengersgettingblitzed.TheANL'scontinuingfailuretotakethethreatoffascistviolenceseriouslyallowsthem(inthiscaseprobably
