In 2008, Newmont’s Conga Project Teamin conjunction with Asociacion Los Andesde Cajamarca

and the neighboringcommunities began exploring opportunitiesor sustainable local development in theregion. The rst programs created wereocused on social development, such ashealth and education. To carry out the 2015 Community Vision, community members ormed CODECOs. Each CODECO preparesan annual operating plan and manages, administers and tracks the progress o activities under the plan. TheCODECOs also strive to empower individuals and groups by providing them with the skills needed to achieve thecommunities’ desired goals.

· 35: CODECOs ormed in the Cajamarca region· 34: CODECO development projects created by community members· Plan de Desarollo Concertado (“Coordinated Development Plan”) created three District Development Plans thataddress community needs in the Conga Project’s direct area o infuence as well as those communities in theindirect are o infuence· Conga Project investment to date o US $345,000 The IDESOL UNICAS program aims to develop and strengthen the productive capacity and nancial wellbeing o rural armers who struggle to sustain a living above poverty level. The goal o this program is or amilies to developthe skills and knowledge to produce more than what is consumed, establish nancial planning and create asustainable business.

Asociacion Los Andes de Cajamarca is a corporate organization that emerges as part o social responsibility to promote Yanacocha sustainable human development in the region.
The ollowing year, work began around orming CommunityDevelopment Committees, which involved 32 communities in theConga Project’s direct and indirect area o infuence identiying andprioritizing their needs. Their analysis led to creation o the “2015Community Vision,” which set targets or improving:· Community-wide Empowerment· Health & Education· Productivity & Earning Power o Farmers· Critical Inrastructure
