Del Cerro Action Council Minutes of Community General Meeting on July 28, 2011

President Jay Wilson called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. and led the Flag Salute JulyAgenda: Motion duly made by Jay Wilson, seconded, by Mark Rawlins, and carried, the members approved meeting agenda. Police Report: Officer Ed Zwibel (858-4957943). Was unable to attend at last minute. Officers Report: Presidents Report: There is issue with debris in Navajo Canyon. Once a month about 15-30 people from Allied Gardens work to keep the trail clean. Sewer main replacement under College Ave and into Adobe Falls Start in February. West of Alvarado, SDSU is building 568 apartments for university students. It will be shared by Alvarado employees. Vice President: Anita reported crime is down in the area from meeting held by Marty Block. Also, there is a low probability, under current State financial crisis that the 200-300 acres in Chula Vista will be developed for a new State campus since State funds cannot be used. Possible for South Western to expand however. Treasurer: Not present (July 2010 balance) Balance: Checking account: $ 3,471.21 Savings account: $ 239.73 Money Market: $ 15,820.16 Elected Officials Report: Councilmember Marti Emerald Office, Maryann Wallis: CPR Training at SDSU (Free Parking) next week.

Sewer Main Replacement from North College, 8 FWY, to Adobe Falls. Late January/early February start date. Undergrounding of telephone poles is beginning near Patrick Henry. She also took questions from the community pertaining to the lack of maintenance of the 8 FWY On/Off ramps.

Program: Clary Solar: Ross shared that if AB 32 passes it could result in 59% increase in electric bill next year. His company is looking to create bundle solar power projects to save money to the homeowner. If anyone is interested, please contact Clary Solar for a free evaluation. Matt, Representative from Lake Murray Playground Committee : The committee as raised $131K towards the $250K goal. Looking at improving in phases. Kevin Burier, SD School Board Member: Next year budget cut is 5%. Band teachers positions have been saved K-3: Research as showing that class sides matters. 29 elementary schools have no more than 20 students per teacher. Board voted to remove toxic Styrofoam tray from the school cafeterias. Looking into other options. Performing Arts Center at Patrick Henry. Money from Prop S was set aside for project ($36 million), but it did not include $2-3 million for air conditioning. Katherine Nakamara, Former SD School Board member: Presented the Performing Arts Center project to DCAC. Requesting support in raising money to cover the $2-3 million in short fall.
