Globalization has been an ongoing process since the 1400s, a series of phases (see Roland Robertson in Tye) becoming in these latter years a clash of civilizations or cultures involving regional conflicts as opposed to global ones, though as for that, the war on terror (nuts to you, Obama, and to your legion of mindless minions--it is a war on terror) has made that last assertion debatable. Into this miasma we add global education (see among others Tye, Kenneth A. [1999]. "Global education: a worldwide movement." Orange, CA: Interdependence Press. Mr. Tye is professor emeritus, School of Education, Chapman University.) Among other things, global education calls for an end to nationalist thinking. One wonders whether America's unions would agree--unless, of course, the world were forced to join a forcibly organized proletariat without borders. In any event, this might be a pleasant change, were it not for the fact that global education does not call for an end to ideological thinking. This includes the pervasive and disingenuous use of the term "democracy.' That great idea has become little more than a euphemism for the tyranny of communism--or, if you prefer--socialism, the economic and political dictatorship espoused by statists such as Pelosi, Reed, and Obama, and by every leftist tyrant since Marx transformed his own petty grievances into a world view and turned victimization into a political science. The right to a free, public education has transmogrified into socializing and indoctrinating young minds and inculcating doctrines inimical to the pursuits of life, liberty, and happiness. Teachers trained in collectivist theories teach students never to question leftist or statist authority. Fostering the ability and the courage to question every kind of authority, however, i.e., independent thinking and the discovery of one's own place in society, in the world, and in the universe, is the only justifiable end of an authentic liberal education. Until global education is a mandate for free thinking, instead of a falsehood founded on silencing every form of opposition to statist ideology, it should be rejected.
