Books are a source of information, comfort and pleasure for people who know how to use them and how to choose them. In choosing textbook, there are things we should consider like the content, quality and amazingly diverse topic of the book. I choose the grade six textbook to be analyze, because the six years of elementary is the most crucial period of the Childs life. This is the time when child establish reading habits that will prevail through high school and adult life. The textbook used by the grade six students of the University of Luzon entitled English Language Power by Aida Alfaro and Yolanda Piang. The book is divided into 4 units and every unit contains a corresponding lesson. In the first unit, tackles about the responding to Gods love with seven lessons and every lesson there are corresponding subtopics. Second unit tackles about the responding to others with nine lessons and there are corresponding subtopics. Third unit tackles about the responding to the world around me with eight lessons and also there are subtopics. And the last unit tackles about the responding to nature with six lessons and there are subtopics. Every lesson they have brief explanation so the reader can easily understand and follow the lesson. The lesson in the book like different kinds of pronoun, distinguishing the subject form, identifying gerunds and gerund phrases, identifying adverbs and adverbial phrases and etc is suitable for the grade six students to learn these lessons, because it can help students to develop their communication skills and thinking skills. Every lesson in the offers varied learning activities that revolve around their experience to enable them to respond to Gods love, to others, to the world around them and to nature. When it comes to the cover of the book is very artistic and there is no error in explaining the lessons. The greatest emphasis of the book is the grammar usage, spelling, correct pronunciations and communication to develop proficiency in English as a second language and their creative thinking skills.
