Years ago, and long beore I begandesigning shawls, I came across a amousItalian designer’s crocheted shawl with cir-cular motis along the bottom edge o theotherwise simple, mesh triangular shawl.I ell in love with the relationship o simplic-ity to complexity in the shawl, and createdmy own interpretation o the concept inThe Maya shawl. The body o the shawleatures hal double crochet through theback loops, leaving a lovely, sharp, lineardetail where the ree ront loops parallelthe more complex motis along the border.The motis are joined as you go and thetriangular section is picked up rom the topo the motis, thereore–no sewing!
