NGO institutional capacity building is critical. The thrust of a capacity buildingprogram is to strengthen NGO competencies in different aspects of developmentwork through training and institutional development. WACSI organised a trainingworkshop on NGO management for WACSOF. This training was in response to arequest made by WACSOF for WACSI to help it in its restructuring andrepositioning process. During a working session between WACSI and WACSOFin October, WACSOF requested that WACSI provide assistance and capacity todeal with two main challenges facing the institution: 1) Uncertainty over the rolein its structure, particularly between Executive committee and GeneralSecretariat leading to conflicting relations; 2) The need to strength the technicalcapacity of the secretariat in areas of project management and accountability.WACSI and WACSOF have a unique and mutually beneficial relationship withinthe ECOWAS sub-region. It has become imperative that WACSI facilitates theprocess of WACSOF achieving its objectives. This report articulates theconcepts, discussions and comments articulated at the Training workshop.
