I've been reading through old stuff today. I know I don't have anything to say that is new or better than what you can tell yourself. . .
KENOSIS23: On 2. If I simply didn't compute, then my apologies. Maybe I simply needed to rephrase it for myself.
Replies to KSEN101: On 2. Words point to wherever we decide to see them as pointing; other then that, they are just sounds. Your point is not really complimentary, but is the point I, evidently, failed to make. On 11: To accept means to to also accept yourself as being who you are. The Buddha -- it is a title, like The Christ" -- could not help being other than what he was, a Bodhisattva, someone who forgoes personal Nirvana (Salvation) in compassion for others in order to help them find their Nirvana. On 15: As flawed as I -- this writing started out as a list of reminders to myself --I am a little bit embarrassed to see an idea of mine being referenced in the same sentence as Thich Nhat Hanh. Peace, Bill
This is great. Your document conveys a sense of balance. During my journey, if I'd have kept better mental or written notes, I might have fared a bit better. But I'm not complaining. To change too many things might mean that one would have fared worse! Still, one wonders.... I've downloaded this document and I'll have to check back on it periodically. Some notes about a couple of points: 2. A complementary idea is that words are illusory, and can only point to reality. 11. What does it mean to accept? Did not the Buddha show a path? Did he accept the world as it is first? If he did, then where does "show a path" come from? :-) 15. Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh seems to second you -- he says that while we may meet in suffering we must not forget the joys that are part of everyday life. He also says that we can transform suffering into peace, joy, and liberation. Best
