Weneedtocultivateadifferentsetofrelationships:

Whilerevivinglocalfoodsystems,wecanalsoaddressinequitableaccessto resourcesbybecomingpartofexistingmovementsforfoodjusticeandfood sovereignty.Whilemakinguseofindigenouswisdominourculturalrevival efforts,wecanalsoacknowledgeandactinsolidaritywithindigenouspeoples strugglingforsurvival.Whiletryingtolimitourowncarbonfootprintsand environmentalimpact,wecanalsojoinsocialmovementsdemandingthe sameofcorporationsandgovernmentpolicies.Personalactionscanbepowerful,butnothingliketheforceofcollectiveaction.

Wemuststrivetomaximizetheuseofwhateverisabundant,easy,low-impact, andreusable.Wedonotneedinfinitelymorespecialequipmentandgadgetry. Wemustinterruptthedisposablesociety.Wherefeasible,scavengematerialstoreusethem;processfibersfromplantsoranimals;buildahousefrom earthenmaterials.DIYculture!

Thesearebutafewstrandsofadenselyinterwovenwebofrelationshipsthat cansustainandenrichus.Fermentationisonewayinwhichwemayconsciouslycultivatethisweb.Thisisthedailypracticeofculturalrevival.By engaginglifeforces,werediscoverandreconnectwithourcontext.
