A great amount of Christians/Jews/Muslims reconcile the Big Bang and evolution with their faith by taking Genesis for what it really is — an old Hebrew myth. You're partially correct. Half of the information in this document is simply false, but I believe the other half has some somewhat good arguments which most evolutionists willingly chose to ignore. But read the whole document and judge for yourselves. The description of the Gap Theory on pages 27-32 is pretty good. At least that way, you can still be a Christian without having to believe in a 6000 year old earth. The young-earther's need to realize that there's more than one way to interpret the book of Genesis, and I believe that, based on all the scientific evidence in support of a 4.2 billion year old earth, the Gap Theory is the most accurate interpretation.
