Description

Where and why the relatively large human brain evolved is the foremost question of evolutionary biology. It is generally believed that our brain size is the result of evolution at the ground, yet fossil evidence establishes that only climbing species have ever attained a relatively large brain. Anthropologists have ignored this fact as they assure us humans are unique from the apes in being fully terrestrial. But they have left unexplained why humans are capable of climbing a thousand foot rock face? In fact we are the best climbers on earth. The Descent turns the anthropological world upside down with with the first zoological examination of when and where early humans were climbing trees. Indisputable empirical evidence is uncovered that shows that human brain size resulted in archaic times when our ancestors were still living in tree houses. Our children's love of tree houses are like tentacles reaching from a forgotten way of life high in trees where the challenges gave birth to human intelligence
