Synopsis of 49 Days(Pure Love) Ji-Hyun's (Nam Gyu-Ri) life seems to be storybook perfect.

Her parents adore her and her friends all seem to admire her. Ji-Hyun is also engaged and set to marry her fiance Min-Ho (Bae Su-bin) in just a few days. Meanwhile, Yi-Kyung (Lee Yo-Won) is a woman who is completely distraught over her life after her boyfriend died in an accident, and frequently contemplates suicide. She works the night shift at a convenient store, while sleeping in the afternoons. On a fateful day, Yi-Kyung gets off a bus and wanders around. She then stands in front of a busy street and attempts to kill herself by walking into oncoming traffic. At that time, somebody saves her life by pulling her back. At this moment, Ji-Hyun, who is driving nearby, fails to hit her breaks, and crashes into a semi-trailer truck that has stopped in the middle of the road. Moments later, Ji-Hyun walks out of her car in a daze. She is shocked to see her body being carted into an ambulance. The only person who seems to notice her standing in the road is a man on a motorcycle. The man on the motorcycle is the Scheduler (Jung Il Woo) - an angel of sorts who awaits to take souls to their final destinations. Ji-Hyun follows her body into the ambulance and watches as the paramedics attempt to revive her body. At the hospital, Ji-Hyun meets the Scheduler again. The Scheduler tells Ji-Hyun that if three people apart from her family genuinely shed tears over her condition within the next 49 days, her body will awaken from its comatose state and she can live again. Ji-Hyun instantly thinks of her fiance and two best friends and is certain she will live again. For the next 49 days, Ji-Hyun then takes over the body of the suicidal Yi-Kyung in her quest to find three such persons. Ji-Hyun gets a job at a restaurant owned by Han Kang (Jo Hyeon Jae), her high school friend. At this time, Ji-Hyun's memory starts to return to her. Before the accident, Ji-Hyun remembers going to see her best friend In-Jung (Seo Ji Hye) to show off her bridal gown. When she arrived, Ji-Hyun saw her best friend and her fiance sitting intimately together in a car. She was then driving to confront them when the accident occurred. Finally coming to her senses about their betrayal, Ji-Hyun now realizes that it won't be so easy to find three people who truly love her. Main Cast

Lee Yo Won as Song Yi Kyung

Yi Kyung is a young woman whose body is used by Ji Hyun throughout the story. Previously, she was a cheerful girl who was blissfully in love with her only family and lover Song Yi Soo. At the beginning of the story, however, she is shown to be suffering from severe depression and frequently contemplates suicide after Yi Soo died in a motorcycle accident five years prior. In the later part of the series, she is able to see and communicate with Ji Hyun's spirit and they become friends. In the end, it is revealed that she is her long lost sister.

Nam Gyu Ri as Shin Ji Hyun

Ji Hyun is a sweet albeit naive girl who seems to have everything: love, wealth, and beauty. Because of her tendency to trust people easily, she is taken advantage of by the people around her, notably her fiance and best friend. Over the course of the series, she searches for three people who would cry genuine tears for her to recover from her comatose state and live again. She develops an unlikely friendship with the Scheduler and shares an unspoken love with her old friend Han Kang. She also gradually develops from being a sheltered, gullible daddy's girl into a strong young woman determined to fight for her second chance at life. However, she dies from abdominal aortic aneurysm despite having received her three genuine teardrops.
y

Jo Hyeon Jae as Han Kang

Han Kang is a highly intelligent architect/restaurateur and best friend of Kang Min Ho. He is also Ji Hyun's high school friend and the only character in the story who is able to figure out the "three pure tears" requirement (apart from Ji Hyun and the Scheduler). At the beginning, he is shown to be a broody and disgruntled guy, often treating Ji Hyun coldly. However, it is revealed that he only acts that way out of 'self-preservation' and is in fact, secretly in love with her. Because of this love, he is also the first person to realize that Song Yi Kyung is Ji Hyun herself after observing their similarities in the manner in which they call out his name, how they perform magic tricks, how they pick their fingernails, how they cook his mother's seaweed soup, their shared dislike for bay leaves, their carefree personalities and the way they sing "The Unlighted Window" while playing the piano. Among her friends, he seems to be the only one who cares for her and constantly (yet secretly) helps her out. He is the first person to give Ji Hyun a "pure" teardrop.
y

Bae Su-bin as Kang Min Ho

Min Ho is Ji Hyun's fiance and Han Kang's closest friend. He is considered by Han Kang as his "hyung" or older brother and is highly respected by him. He appears to be responsible, gracious and trustworthy, traits that had everyone deceived in the story, with the exception of his real girlfriend Shin In Jung, with whom he had planned his engagement to Ji Hyun in order to steal Shin Il Shik's company. In truth, he is a bitter young man whose desire is to cause misery to Ji Hyun's family as a result of the despair he experienced in his childhood, even going as far as ordering In Jung to tamper with Ji Hyun's oxygen mask to kill her. Ironically, he falls for her (in Song Yi Kyung's body) just when she becomes resentful of him after she discovers his betrayal with In Jung.
y

Jung Il Woo as Scheduler/Song Yi Soo

Song Yi Soo is the love of Song Yi Kyung's life whose death brought immense grief to her for the past five years. In the afterlife, he volunteered to be a reaper in exchange for one last chance to see her again. As Scheduler, he is tasked to take souls to their destinations at the exact moment of their deaths and he has no recollection of his

earthly life. He also reprimands Ji Hyun whenever she does something careless like spraining Song Yi Kyung's ankle or nearly revealing her identity to Min Ho. Although he insists that he does not want to bother himself with human affairs, he learns to empathize with Ji Hyun, even "breaking the rules" to extend a hand to her and congratulating her for her achievements (e.g. when she got her first tear).
y

Seo Ji Hye as Shin In Jung

In Jung is one of Ji Hyun's best friends and has been secretly involved with Kang Min Ho for the past five years. She works as Ji Hyun's father's secretary, giving both of them easy access to each other and the company's operations. Due to her impoverished background, she becomes deeply envious of Ji Hyun. Because of the grudge she held against Ji Hyun's mother when they were children, she schemed with Min Ho to take away the Shin family's assets by setting her daughter up with him for marriage. She redeems herself in the end by submitting the necessary evidence to the prosecutors, thereby incarcerating Min Ho, and giving Ji Hyun her last "pure" teardrop. Supporting Cast
