PROCEDURE TO OPEN A DEMAT ACCOUNT


Fill account opening form

Sign an agreement with the DP

Required documents including address proof

Allocation of unique BOID

REQUIREMENTS FOR DEMAT ACCOUNT


One Passport size photograph, Proof of address like Voter ID card, electricity bill or Ration Card Employee ID Card, Bank attestation and Latest IT Return Share certificate(s) to DP. DP would forward them to the issuer / their R&T Agent. Deface the share certificate(s) you want to dematerialize by writing across Surrendered for dematerialization PAN Card (proof of identity) .As of April 2006 it is mandatory, if any person want to open a demat account should have a PAN CARD (Permanent Account number) . Without a PAN CARD you are not be eligible to open a Demat account

1.Settlement of Securities traded on the exchanges as well as off market transactions. 2.Shorter settlements thereby enhancing liquidity. 3.Pledging of Securities. 4.Electronic credit in public issue. 5.Automatic Credit of Rights / Bonus / Public Issues / Dividend credit through ECS.

6. Automatic Credit of Public Issue refunds to the bank account. 7. No stamp duty on transfer of securities held in demat form. 8. No concept of Market Lots.

Holding / Transaction details through Internet / email. 11. It avoids holding of physical forms of shares and there is no threat of loss, misplacement or theft of the same

In NSDL depository system, the record of ownership will be shown as: ISIN INE 475C 01 012 ABC by demat 100 IN - India E - Company Last digit - check digit First four digits 475C - Company serial number; 01 - equity (it can be mutual fund units, debt or Government securities); 01 - issue number; 2 - check digit.
