Facial Symmetry and How it Relates to Perceived Intelligence
Facial symmetry. What usually indicates beauty for people, could it also help indicate howintelligent people are, or rather how intelligent people are perceived. This study of facial symmetry isrelated to perception
 Aim:
To investigate how Bentonville High School students perceive peoples intelligence by means of facialsymmetry
 Research Hypothesis:
The more symmetrical the face of a person is, the higher intelligence perceived by the students (orobservers).
Null Hypothesis:
Facial symmetry will have no effect on how people perceive intelligence.
Literature
Bernhard Fink, Nick Neave, John T. Manning, Karl Grammer (2006) wanted to prove thecorrelation between facial symmetry and health, beauty, and positive personality traits. Thepsychologists selected 20 Caucasian females (ages 18-25). Subjects asked to rate people on a 7 pointLikert scale (1-worst 7-best). The independent variable was facial symmetry of the girls in the photos.Their findings agreed with their hypothesis. This experiment is relevant because it supports myhypothesis.
