30th Annual Production SaleSelling 575 HeadNovember 22, 2008
10 A.M. • Mexico, Missouri

Dear Cattlemen,Welcome to our 30th Annual Production Sale as we celebrateour 56th year in the Angus business. The bee industry has been challenged by increased inputcosts. We think the Angus cow is the most efcient in the indus-try, and the breed will continue to dominate the genetics o thecommercial cow herd. We must continue to supply Angus bulls tocommercial breeders that do what we say they’ll do, and pro-grams that help commercial producers enhance their bottom line. Our perormance numbers this year remind us o why EPDsare more important than raw weights. As we all know, overlyabundant rainall creates more grass, but lower quality. Our allbulls got o to a good start last all as babies and weanedheavier than ever. An abundance o grass through the summerheld back their ADG, as they preerred grass to the eed withlimiters. Our spring calves, given the long, cold, muddy spring, showed more variation than usual, and lighter weaning weightsin general. As this sale book goes to press, our breed is experiencingthe possibility o a wide-spread genetic deect, something wehaven’t had to deal with in many years. Our Association is deal-ing with it in a straight-orward and transparent manner, andwe will look back on it some day as a mere bump in the road. Please reer to our comments on page 28. This new challengeshould serve as a wake-up call to all seedstock producers. Weneed to maintain more genetic diversity in this breed. This isnot something new to our thought process, but we will nowbe even more diligent to maintain some bloodlines others mayhave passed by.As always, we will do our best to inorm you, our customer, with all the inormation we can to help you make good buyingdecisions. We hope you will be with us November 22 to give us yourevaluation. Come early Saturday morning and enjoy our Missouricountry breakast beore the sale. I you cannot be here, our salewill once again be broadcast live on the internet by DV Auction.See page 103 or details. For more inormation on any o the cattle in this oering, or iwe can assist you in making travel arrangements, please call thearm ofce at (573) 581-1225 or the dealership ofce at (800)231-3746.We look orward to seeing you!Sincerely,Eddie L.
