Occupy Movement Resolution on Syria, February 5th 2012 - Draft English Text We, the Occupiers of the World,

in solidarity with the Syrian people in these times of their pain, and of the cruelty bestowed on them by their government as well as non-governmental forces, call for international action to halt immediately all acts of violence by both Syrian government forces & non-governmental forces in Syria, and to remind the Syrian government to apply the principles of the Arab Charter on Human rights and of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. 1. Recalling UN resolution A/C.3/66/L.44/Rev. "Promotion and Protection of human rights"; 2. Recalling the League of Arab States' Arab Charter on Human Rights, May 22, 2004, reprinted in 12 Int'l Hum. Rts. Rep. 893 (2005), entered into force March 15, 2008; 3. Noting the request from the Arab league, 22 January 2012; 4. Expressing grave concern about the situation in Syria, the deaths of thousands of people, and calling for an immediate end to all violence; 5. Recognizing that foreigners are interfering in a sovereign country's affairs; 6. Expressing grave concern about the continued transfer of weapons & of non-Syrian combatants & agents into Syria, which fuels the violence; 7. Recognizing the call for help from the Syrian people; 8. Demand that the Syrian government, & non-governmental forces in Syria: put an end immediately to all human rights violations and attacks against those exercising their rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and association; protect the population; fully comply with all their obligations under applicable international law; and fully implement human rights; 9. Demand that all those responsible for human rights violations, including acts of violence, must be held accountable; 10. Reaffirm our strong commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Syria, emphasizing the need to resolve the current crisis in Syria peacefully, and stressing that nothing in this resolution implies any threat of force; 11. Call for the immediate arrest of President Assad, in compliance with International Criminal Court Article 103.
