Christ Central children and vol-
unteers have had a busy summer
exploring God`s beautiIul crea-
tion; waterIalls, mountain
streams, majestic mountains as
well as local lakes and even golI
courses. The children have had a
break Irom the noisy, and troubled
neighborhoods they live in and
have had an opportunity to 'be
still and know...God in His
beauty and surrounded by His
people.
This has given many children a
desire to go deeper in knowledge
oI God and His kingdom. Ten
children will be attending First
Step on Monday.a class that will
explain the Iirst step oI becoming a
Christ Iollower. The children and
their parent or guardian will attend
together so they both have Iull
knowledge and understanding oI
this most important liIe decision.

We have need oI mature Christians
to come alongside these new believ-
ers and disciple them. Let us know
iI God is calling you to be a helper.

Roger Floyd and Pastor Sonya Mazelle and Team are proving GED opportunities in a variety of venues
for the benefit of those with a desire to move further along in their lives. As the team "proves" and
"improves" the possibilities of teaching and testing, they are burrowing through the obstacles standing in
the way of participants.

Accommodating work schedules, giving homework and utilizing people's time with the greatest of effi-
ciency is producing effective results. Below is a menu of the opportunities.

Pre-GED camp last month had 8 participants.

3 wk GED camp has 21 participants; 7 females and 14 males.

Fast Track camp next wk expects to have about 13 participants.

Additional FT participants attending Saturdays will also test on Aug 19 and total about 6.

Total to be tested on Aug 19 should total about 35 to 38.

Testing and assessment process has proven to be very valuable in screening candidates and determining how
CCM can assist them.

The SC Christian Chamber oI Commerce (SC4) tapped the talents oI 3 mission
station directors this week at a Think Tank session in Eau Claire, SC.
The SC4 was asked by Tracy Ely oI the Tutor Eau Claire project to gather a
group oI business members together to help them brainstorm about expanding
their program. Among the group chosen by SC4 to help them were Judy Floyd,
Scooter Scott and Laurie Paneda.
When SC4 is approached Ior business consulting they gather the best, and
most knowledgeable group oI 4 -6 members. SC4 does this with groups across
the state. In this case, mission station directors were participants because
oI their expertise in the area needed Ior this project. Following the Think
Tank session all participants on the SC4 team will give their Ieedback and
the Chamber will report back to the group with recommendations.
Please Ieel Iree to use SC4 as a resource Ior your mission station iI you
encounter a business or commerce issue Iacing the communities you serve.

MODERN DAY REDEMPTON STORY

As stood in the cement-floored, non-air conditioned
apartment, had a captive audience of grandmas, mammas
and children. Anthony, one of our students, has just con-
fessed to stealing an item from one of my volunteers. had
been brought in because the grandma called me when she
discovered it. nstead of condemning this child in front of the
audience, pulled his tear-streaked face to mine and said
"You are forgiven". then was able to share with the entire
apartment the power of the cross and how it had even saved
a sinner like me. - Ms. Michelle

UPDATES

*Our tutoring will begin the first week of September. We will
be tutoring on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30-
5:00. Please let Ms. Michelle or Ms. Carol know if you have
any interest in helping out so that we can make sure we
have all of our needs met for the fall. Our ministry can not
take place without consistent volunteers!

*We are considering launching a preschool pilot program
one day a week from 9:30-12:00. Please prayerfully con-
sider if this is where the Lord could use you and let Ms. Mi-
chelle or Ms. Carol know.

August 2011
I do not know iI we are having
so much Iun that it makes the
time go by so quickly or this is
how it is when you reach 'that
certain age. Whatever it is, life
is good.
The Women`s Well have packed
lots oI Iun into the summer
months. The 'Star oI Wagener
quilt is almost Iinished and most
oI our projects are com-
pleted. Now we are now Iocus-
ing on sewing up` more craIts
Ior the Aiken Charity Bazaar on
September 16 & 17. This will
make our third year at the Aiken
Mall. We are looking Iorward to
seeing old Iriends and making
some new ones. OI course, we
plan to sell lots oI our home-
made craIts and quilts.
Our girls` classes have proven to
be a success. Their abilities and
talents have amazed us all. They
have painted gourds, painted
wood projects, and quilted pil-
lows. The next class on August
3, they will make jean pocket-
books. This should prove very
interesting because each girl has
her own idea how to decorate
them. Creative minds make
for beautiful creations.
We Iinished the Bible study
~Can We Talk? by Priscilla
Shirer on July 11 and now we
are starting a new one called
'1onah: Life Inter-
rupted. Priscilla makes the
subject come alive in our day.
The new study begins Tuesday,
July 26 and goes through August
30. ( Time: 10:30 until
12:00. Place: Women`s Well,
117 Railroad Ave., Wag-
ener) Come be a part oI an
exciting Bible study on Tues-
days. All women are invited.
Jean Redcay has made so many
beautiIul quilt tops Ior the
Women`s Well. She does this
Irom her heart to share her
giIt. When Jean arrives on
Thursday mornings with her
blue bag in tow, we all get ex-
cited to see what is in it. ( We
act like children at Christ-
mas) We are very thankIul Ior
her generosity and bless-
ings. Jean`s birthday is August
4 and we wish her 'Happy Birth-
day Irom all the women at the
Well.
The Women`s Well have Iin-
ished 28 'Little Dresses Ior AI-
rica. These little dresses have
personality. Some have lace,
rickrack, buttons, bows and
other trims to make them indi-
vidual. It would be wonderIul iI
we could be there when they
give the little dresses out. Since
we cannot be there in body, we
will be there in spirit...God`s
spirit. Next month we will have
a group picture oI the little
dresses and all who helped make
them.
We turned in 21 bags to the
Lydia Project this month. These
bags are Ior women with can-
cer. Lydia Iills each bag with
items Ior the new cancer patient
to let her know others care. Our
prayer warriors pray Ior their
healing and comIort every
Thursday at 1:00 pm.

CHRIST CENTRAL MISSION REPORT COLUMBIA
"So I say unto you, ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it will be
opened to you". Luke 11:9 !

CHRST CENTRAL is committed to serving every client in a spirit of love and respect. Our de-
voted volunteers are dedicated to serve in excellence, regardless of how great or small the need.

A GREAT SHOUT OUT TO OUR DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS:

Sandra Taylor, Luella Redfern and the office staff, Mr. Bruce Trezevant and Company for techni-
cal support, Glennie Wise and the kitchen staff, Mr. John Swindler, Mr. Phillip, Rosemary, Mr.
Walter Johnson, Ms Hill, the cleaning staff, and all of our wonderful donors who help to make the
impossible, possible.

Pastor Sylvia Mickens 803) 765-1998
We, as followers of Christ, believe that it is important for Christ Central mission interns to under-
stand politics and all that politics intel for the reason that, among other things, the world of politics
is not strictly confined to the workplace and the idealistic suit and tie atmosphere. This common
misconception makes many of us common Americans (and missionaries) feel disconnected from
the world of politics and other varied fields involving the government. This, however, is very untrue
for the reason that it is these very politicians and government officials who decide our future and
delegate our daily lives as both mission-
aries and U.S. citizens. Another key rea-
son we must understand politics is be-
cause the concept of politics itself can be
applied to every facet of our lives. What
is meant by this is simply that just as
politicians must argue their view on a
point and state it in such a way as to not
offend the party on the opposing side,
we must also be knowledgeable about
our "field" and must know how to present
our point in a way that does not set off
different denominations. Our lives, sim-
ply put, are just one big cam-
paign...however we are promoting Christ.
That is why it was important for us to visit
Columbia to hear Michele Bachman.
