Machines are fascinating things to see, And they make life so much easier for me, Even if they're complicated, Every one of them's created From just six that are so simple as can be! A lever is used to raise and lift and pry; I can lift quite heavy objects if I try; And the secret of the wedge Is its sharp and pointed edge Moving forward with the force that I apply. If I want to move a load without much strain, I can slide it up or down an inclined plane And a simple little screw Drills and fastens, lifts things too, For it twists right in where pounding was in vain. Pencil sharpener, my red wagon, fishing reel Are each built upon an axle and a wheel Lifting's easier, I find, When some pulleys are combined; Moving loads with little effort is ideal!
