The Myanmar Geosciences Society (MGS) is organizing GeoMyanmar 2012, the rstInternaonal Conference of its kind ever to be held in Myanmar. The Conference isdesigned to be a forum for exchange of various geological perspecves on Myanmar ina regional context and is aimed to promote investment for
E & P
in petroleum and min-eral resources sectors. The Conference is to be held for two full days on March 1 and 2,2012 at Sedona Hotel in Yangon.
MGS invites papers from Academia, Industry and Government Departments, both localand overseas, that will enable the veteran and new generaon Myanmar geologicalcommunity and the prospecve investors for fair and balanced informaon for Region-al Geology and Economic Geology of Myanmar. A special session on investment climateand prevailing legal/scal regimes in Myanmar is also programmed with speakers fromthe relevant government departments. To date, scholars from 13 countries over theworld have registered to aend the conference.
Designed to meet the technical and professional needs for new investors and enthusi-asts of Myanmar Geology, GeoMyanmar 2012 will also highlight the acvies of cur-rent foreign operators in mining and petroleum sectors of Myanmar, cing case histo-ries of their works.

MGS invites professionals and individuals to submit abstracts for considera-on by the Program Commiee. Submission of abstracts is accepted either bye
mail or by post.
The author should submit an abstract of no more than 400 words in MS Wordformat and should state clearly the tle, author list and aliaon, objecves,subject maer and conclusions . The abstract should be accompanied by theauthor’s bio data(s)(<100 words) and photo. Private companies are earnestlysolicited to share their experience/knowledge in their development projectsand are invited to provide an abstract of their paper for consideraon by theProgramme Commiee.

Field trip to Shan Highlands, emphasizing its mineral resources and PaleozoicMesozoic Stragraphy, including metamorphic core complex at Mandalay Hill andacve tectonics along Sagaing transfer (transform) Fault, a major connentalstrike
slip fault zone in SE Asia linking Himalayan Syntaxis and Andaman Spread-ing Center.
The trip will be from the morning of 3rd March unl evening of 5th March.
Experienced geologists who have extensive knowledge on stragraphy, mineraldeposits and tectonics of Myanmar will conduct eld lectures, and will take theopinions and discussions from parcipants. These discussion will highlight futurecollaborave research projects.

minute drive away from the internaonal airport and the bus-tling city centre for venue of the Conference and accommodaon for the scholarsfrom abroad. It sits majescally on eight acres of beaufully landscaped gardens,within close proximity to the famous Shwedagon Pagoda and Inya Lake.
The scholars, businessmen and delegates from the geological sociees of the neigh-boring countries should arrive Yangon on February 29. Reservaon can be done byrequest to Conference Commiee before 15 February 2012.
