Background... IMC OnAir as a broadcasting show (Radio + Internet Radio (PodCasting)) historically is the result of a longer process and gets in lane as following. The brand structure is to be understood as a conceptional brand architecture.
Project office Sinn-Macher.net (Sense-Maker.Net) as the personalized brand of the initiator ElJay Arem, being drafted first in April 2003. The content of the website www.sinn-macher.net is focussing onto any aspects around the ideom sense (currenctly 70 web pages), reflecting the life philosophical comprehension, from where all other part projects inclusive IMC are being developed. All part projects of IMC India meets Classic are components of the foundation project EURETEC (European Research, Therapy and Education Centre for Life Sciences) www.eufletz-stiftung.de IMC India meets Classic (www.india-meets-classic.net) is the head of all part projects, handling Indian Classical music in some different ways. The IMC Logo is to be understood as the main brand of all sub brands. (Rec.: IMC was founded for realisation of music therapy programmes based on Indian Classical Music, supplementing EURETECs sailing therapy concept 3i1 (Three in One Psycho Education on the Water.) IMC OnAir (www.imcradio.net) represents the broadcasting platform of IMC India meets Classic, directed to fulfill the needs of media convergence via radio (local area: cable/Antenne) and podcasting (worldwide by RSS Feeds as Internet based push & pull technologies). Since August 2007 IMC OnAir broadcasts via Internet and Mobile Radio (streamcasting) worldwide. The IMC promotion initiative in part was initialized as youth patronage. The Tabla Performance TablaGroup Hamburg has been presented to the public at the Festival of Cultures in September 2005 under the headline home individuals & society performing a text recitative out of Creative Unity (1922), a literature of Indias genious philosopher Rabindranath Tagore. Culturebridge Water is Life Living with Water(JALER APAR NAM JIBHAN) was drafted by IMC for the art competition of Hamburgs culture foundation in April 2005. Hereby the IMC focus is live performing (night of ragas) and scholarship exchange programme between India and Germany for supporting an inter cultural dialogue and knowledge transfer from India to Europe. IMC India meets Classic disposes within its whole concept a music paedagogical programme for schools (raga workshop programme of 6 weeks duration).
Hintergrund ... IMC OnAir gliedert sich als Radiosendung (Kabel/Antenne + Internetstream/PodCast) historisch u. hierarchisch in folgenden Aufbau. Die Struktur soll als konzeptionelle Markenarchitektur fr alle sozialen Projekte von IMC verstanden werden. Projektbro Sinn-Macher.net personalisierte Marke des Ideengebers und Initiators Lothar J.R. Maier mit Erstkonzeptionierung in 04/2003. Die Inhalte dieser auf Sinn fokussierten Website (www.sinnmacher.net) befasst sich mit nahezu allen Aspekten rund um die Begrifflichkeit Sinn Und reflektiert das lebensphilosophische Verstndnis, aus dem alle Teilprojekte wie IMC (www.india-meets-classic.net) entwickelt werden. Introduction / Einfhrung The radio show today is setup under the topic 726 years of celestial music A Review of 2011. For all music lovers of Indian Classics around the globe it was a tough year very often mourning for the greatest music maestros we have lost. I will present during the next 2 hours the finest music of these stalwarts of Hindustani and Carnatic music. The tunes will speak on its own for the beautiness of Indian music in its diversity like from Jagjit Singh, the Ghazal King or Ustad Sultan Khan, the Sarangi maestro, Bhimsen Joshi, the great Khayal singer or Prof. Sushitra Mitra, an outstanding interpreter of Rabindra Sangeet and some more we have lost. Die heutige Sendung steht unter der berschrift: 726 Jahre himmlische Musik ein Rckblick auf das Jahr 2011. In diesem Jahr hat die weltweite Gemeinschaft von Musikliebhabern der indischen Klassik eine aussergewhnlich hohe Anzahl von Verlusten verkraften mssen. Herausragende Meister haben uns verlassen wie der Ghazal-Knig Jagjit Singh, der Sarangimeister Ustad Sultan Khan, der groe Interpret des Khayals Bhimsen Joshi oder die Sngerin Sushitra Mitra, eine exzellente Vertreterin des Rabindra Sangeet und weitere andere, von denen wir in 2011 Abschied nehmen mussten. Die nchsten 2 Stunden werde ich die musikalischen Werke dieser Meister sprechen lassen. Die Musik ist uns als ihr Erbe geblieben und vermittelt uns die Schnheit der indischen Klassik in ihrer ganzen Vielfalt.

Rabindra Sangeet: Suchitra Mitra, Khayal: Bhimsen Joshi On 3rd January 2011, the 1st Monday of the new year, the legendary Rabindra Sangeet singer Suchitra Mitra passed away at the age of 86. Suchitra Mitra was Professor and head of music department at the Rabindra Bharati University Suchitra Mitra was loved for her rendition of Tagore songs. If you are interested more deeply to know about Rabindra Sangeet, I point to our online archive, where all radio shows since 2006 are available for relistening. There you find the show Rabindra Sangeet A voice for All ! Gleich zu Beginn des Jahres 2011 verstarb am 3. Januar Suchitra Mitra im Alter von 86 Jahren. Suchitra Mitra war eine legendre Interpretin des Rabindra Sangeet, und ber viele Jahre Professorin und Leiterin der musikalischen Fakultt der Rabindra Bharati Universitt. Bei nherem Interesse fr Tagorelieder verweisen wir auf unser Online-Archiv und die Sendung Rabindra Sangeeet Eine Stimme fr Alle! Wir hren Suchitra Mitra gleich mit zwei Liedbeispielen. Aus den CD Barshar Gaan Tagores Composition on Monsoon und aus Over the Years. Im Anschluss an Suchitra Mitra hren wir Bhimsen Joshi, den fhrenden Interpreten im Khayal, einem modernen Gesangsstile der nordindischen Klassik. Bhimsen Joshi verstarb kurz nach Shuchitra Mitra am 24. Januar 2011. Bhimsen Joshi war nicht nur Snger. Viele Jahre stand er dem Sawai Gandharva Music Festival vor. Bhimsen Joshi grndete dieses bedeutende Festival im Jahre 1953. Es findet jhrlich im Dezember statt, in Pune. Zu Ehren von Bhimsen Joshi wurde dieses Festival umbenannt in Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav. Wir hren Bhimsen Joshi mit dem Sptabendaga Gorakh Kalyan, in einem 16er Beat (TeenTal) und mittleren Tempo, Madya Laya. Suchitra Mitra will present us now two Tagore songs from the CD Barshar Gaan Tagores Composition on Mansoon and Over the Years. Following then Bhimsen Joshi will present us the late evening raag Gorakh Kalyan in Madhya Laya and Teental, a middle tempo and 16 beats. Bhimsen Joshi died on 24st January 2011 he was the legendary interpreter of Khayal, which is the modern vocal style of North Indian Classics. Bhimsen Joshi wasnt only singer; in 1953 he founded the famous Sawai Gandharva Music Festival, for promoting Indian Classical music. Annually in December this festival takes place in Pune. Giving tribute to Bhimsen Joshi the festival is re-named as Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav.

Following Sushitra Mitra and Bhimsen Joshi we just heard I got the news in summer from the Dagar family that Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar is no more with us. Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar died on 27th July 2011; he represented the Dagar tradition along with his brothers of a very unique Dhrupad style in 19th generation. Dhrupad is the eldest vocal style of North Indian Classics. Let us enjoy Rahim Fahimuddins interpretation of morning Raga Asavari. The introduction part, the Aalap is in typical slow tempo Vilambit. Sitar of Senia Gharana: Pt. Uma Shanar Mishra The medias worldwide gave tremendous attention to the demise of Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar, who died in July 2011. We just listened to the legendary Dhrupad singer with an interpretation of morning Raga Asavari. The public took less notice of, that the Sitar maestro Pandit Uma Shankar Mishra died in Dehli on 22nd September 2011 at the age of 80. In 1992 this top class artist received the Akademiy Award by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. Uma Shankar Mishra 1st was educated in 6th generation by his father Hari Prasad Mishra and later studied with Pandit Ravi Shankar in the tradition of the Senia Gharana. The gharana-s are a kind of music schools for Indian Classics. Uma Shankar Mishra is one of the elegant sitar players as we can listen now to the popular evening Raga Durga, which was broadcasted by AIR All India Radio. The recording isnt dated exactly.
Weltweit haben die Medien dem Ableben des groen Dhrupadinterpreten Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar eine groe Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt. Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar starb im Juli 2011. Wir hrten ihn mit der Interpretation des Morgenragas Asavari. Die ffentlichkeit hat aber davon wenig Notiz genommen, dass der groartige Sitarmeister Pandit Uma Shankar Mishra in Delhi am 22. September 2011 verstarb, im Alter von 80 Jahren. Uma Shankar Mishra wurde in 6. Generation zunchst von seinem Vater Hari Prasad Mishra ausgebildet, spter nahm er Unterricht bei der Sitarlegende Pandit Ravi Shankar, in der Tradition der Senia Gharana. Sie ist uns nicht nher datiert. 5.1 Ghazal: Jagjit Sing The last legendary maestro of a vocal style I present in part 1 of our 2 hours show is Jagjit Singh. The King of Ghazals is no more since 10th October 2011. Jagjit Singh was a very popular composer, singer, music director active since 1966 till shortly his demise at the age of 70. Jagjit Singh succeeded his popularity by highlightening movies and TV series in the 80th with his music, like Prem Geet, Saath Saath or Mirza Ghalib. In the 70th of last century Jagjit Singh set a strong fundament by songs in a modern style of Ghazal rendition as we can listen now. Film maker/Composer/Vocalist Dr. Bhupen Hazarika In November 2011 too many of the greatest artists in Indian music have gone, some quietly, some with a global wave of deepest sympathies. Nevertheless all figures have been an important figure in the world of Indian music. On 5th November died Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in Mumbai, at the age of 85. Hazarika had a key role for the film industries in Assam where he was born in 1926. His ambitions were to account an individual cultural identity for the federal state in North East India. Bhupen Hazarika was an intellectual pioneer in many segments, as film maker, composer, vocalist, poet or as lecturer of the culture magazine Gati. He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1987 for his personal achievements in Indian Folk music. In 1971 Hazarika visited East Berlin for the political folk songs festival where he presented his songs for the liberation of Bangladesh. We will hear now two Hazarika compositions. Hazrika zhlte zu den herausragenden Persnlichkeiten Indiens. Ob als Verleger des Kulturmagazines Gati, als Komponist, Dichter und Snger oder als Filmemacher, Hazarika prgte mageblich die Entwicklung der Filmindustrie in dem nordstlichen Bundesstaat Assam. Hier wurde der Pionier des Assamesischen Kinos auch geboren. Fr seinen Beitrag zur indischen Volksmusik erhielt Hazarika im Jahre 1987 den Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. 1971 besuchte Hazarika die DDR und nahm am Festival fr politische Lieder teil, in Ostberlin. Hier prsentierte er seine politischen Songs zur Befreiung von Bangladesch. Von Hazarika hren wir nun zwei Kompositionen. Tabla: Pt. Shandra Sahai Without being noticed in the public heavily, one of the most versed maestros on the Tabla became silent forever on 20th November, in London. Pandit Shandra Sahai was one of the very few percussionists of highest virtuosity. Shandra Sahai was a descendent of Ram Sahai, the founder of the Benares Style of tabla playing in the 19th century. Already at the age of nine Shandra Sahai became a professional. Aside the Sarod maestro Ali Akbar Khan he attracted care and attention. In 1965 at the age of 30 Shandra Sahai founded an institute for training in classical music and dance. The Pandit Ram Sahai Sangit Vidyalaya is located in Benares. I will present now two Tabla compositions, so called Tukras, 2nd one with improvisations which were recorded in 2004 at the Saptak music festival. Shandra Sahai gehrte zu den wenigen Percussionisten, die hchste Virtuositt auszeichnet. Er war der Urenkel von Ram Sahai, dem Begrnder des Benares Stiles im Tablaspiel im 19. Jahrhundert. Schon mit neun begann die professionelle Musikerlaufban von Shandra Sahai. Als Begleitung der Sarodlegende Ali Akbar Khan machte er auf sich aufmerksam. Im Jahre 1965, im Alter von 30 Jahren grndete Shandra Sahai ein Institut zur Ausbildung in der indischen Klassik und im indischen Tanz. Das Pandit Ram Sahai Sangit Vidyalaya besteht noch heute in Benares. Von Shandra Sahai werden wir nun zwei Tablakompositionen hren, s.g. Tukras, die zweite mit Improvisationen, die im Jahre 2004 beim Saptak Music Festival aufgenommen wurden. Shandra Sahai wird von seinem Sohn Vishnu Sahai begleitet.

Sultan of Sarangi: Sultan Khan In 1940 was born Sultan Khan close to Jaipur. 71 years later the Sultan of Sarangi left his heritage to the world on 27th November. It was one week after the demise of tabla maestro Shandra Sahai we just have heard. Sultan Khan was one of the most prominent Sarangi players who established the Indian fiddle worldwide. Pop groups like Duran Duran picked up the sound of his Sarangi. Bass player Bill Laswell, an enthusiast for electronic music played together with the tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain and Sultan Khan as Tabla Beat Sience. For the Gandhi movie the music of Sultan Khan was featured. In a personal talk these days with Imran Khan, sitar player and nephew of Ustad Sultan Khan described the importance of his uncle as following: He opened the gates. The sound of Sarangi is familiar with the world. No other Indian instrument beside the human voice can express the nuances of a Raga as we can follow now Sultan Khans Sarangi in Raga Patdeep. Fr den mit einem Oskar ausgezeichneten Film Ghandi (1984) leistete Sultan Khan seinen Beitrag. In einem Gesprch, das ich diese Tage mit dem Enkel und Sitarspieler Imran Khan fhrte, beschrieb dieser die Bedeutung seines Onkels wie folgt: Er ffnete die Tren. Der Klang der Sarangi ist heute der ganzen Welt vertraut. Kein anderes Instrument der indischen Klassik neben der menschlichen Stimme kann die feinsten Nuancen eines Ragas darbieten, wie wir von Sultan Khan am Beispiel des Abenragas Patdeep hren werden. Raga Patdeep wird zur Abendmmerung gespielt. 4.1 Flute (Bansuri): Vijay Raghav Rao Vocals, Sarangi, Sitar and Tabla in 2011 we music lovers of Indian Classics experienced heavy losses. Silently another outstanding representative of a beauitful Indian instrument left us on 30th November in Washington Virginia nearby unnoticed in India as Vijay Raghav Rao resided permanently in the United States. It was confirmed by his former pupil Ronu Majumder, one of Indias leading flute players. Vijay Raghav Rao was born in 1925 (3rd Nov) in Chennai. He was a Bansuri player of excellence. The Bansuri is the Indian flute made of Bamboo. Beside his flute play Vijay Raghav Rao composed successfully film scores and published poems and short stories. Vijay Raghav Rao will present us now the Raga Abhogi of South Indian origin. Abhogi was overtaken into North Indian Classics. It is a 5 tone raga in the ascending and descending scale, a symmetric pentatonic raga. Snger, eine Sarangilegende, Sitarmaestro und Tablavirtuose in 2011 mussten die Freunde der indischen Klassik schwere Verluste erleiden. Nahezu lautlos verschwand auch ein herausragender Vertreter des Fltenspiels, am 30. November in Washington, Virginia. In Indien wurde dies fast nicht bemerkt. Vijay Raghav Rao hatte seit Langem seinen stndigen Wohnsitz in den U.S.A. Das Ableben von Vijay Raghav Rao wurde mir von seinem ehemaligen Schler und Fltenvirtuosen Ronu Majumdar besttigt. Vijay Raghav Rao wurde 1925 in Chennai geboren. Er war einer der besten Interpreten auf der Bansuri. Diese indische Flte ist aus Bambus gefertigt. Neben dem Fltenspiel war Vijay Raghav Rao auch Komponist von Filmmusiken. Und er verffentlichte Gedichte und Kurzgeschichten. Von Vijay Raghav Rao hren wir nun den Raga Abhogi. Abhogi ist sdindischen Usprungs und wurde in die nordindische Klassik bernommen. Abhogi ist ein 5-Ton-Raga, in der auf- und absteigenden Skala, ein symmetrischer hexatonischer Raga.
